Lowe's Finance organization is building out a multi-year program to modernize legacy accounting and financial reporting platforms for the enterprise. The primary purpose of this role is to serve as a subject matter expert in the strategy, design and implementation of finance and accounting processes and systems under the Finance Technology Modernization ("FTM") program. This role may work on specific areas supporting transformation efforts. The areas may include (but are not limited to) leading the Trade, Import & Transportation Accounting workstream (vendor invoice matching), or the Inventory Valuation and Reconciliation workstream. This role will lead complex workstreams focused on transformational design and implementing software for core finance and accounting processes including replacing the Company's existing PeopleSoft ERP and legacy retail services systems as well as aligning current accounting and financial reporting processes with retail best practices. The responsibility for designated workstreams includes complex, large scope business process re-design, system requirements and configuration, user-acceptance testing, implementation support, issue resolution, master data governance, end-user training and change management. The Senior Manager - FTM Workstream Subject Matter Expert position will partner with FTM Director Leads, peer FTM Subject Matter Experts, Accounting and Finance staff and leadership, dedicated FTM Technology personnel, and outside consultants to drive transformational workstream deliverables.
What You Will Do
Design financial processes and software solutions to address initiative requirements impacting the performance of accounting functions for Domestic Trade Payables, Import Trade Payables, and Freight and Transportation Payables
Lead to take action to ensure a full understanding of complex workstream objectives and roles to drive rapid, transformational decision making and continuous progress, and identify key areas of overlap with and impact on other FTM areas
Seek out retail best practices in Finance/Accounting to challenge the status quo, ensure efficient business processes are designed, and maintain clarity of ownership between Finance and Retail functions
Oversee and design financial processes and identify software solution requirements to perform accounting functions for workstream core activities and deliverables for complex and transformative areas
Ensure appropriate supporting documents and decision support are maintained and documented related to system design and testing
Develop and support recommendations to senior FTM, Accounting, and Finance leadership regarding required system and process design and related testing, validation and configuration. Prepare written documentation as necessary to support conclusions reached and selected solutions.
Coordinate with Technology, consultants, and finance and accounting personnel to replace and modernize complex legacy financial systems and processes within designated workstream
Identify and make recommendations to FTM leadership on key workstream decisions
Lead the design and testing of integrations to and from other financial and operational systems
Communicate effectively with other FTM workstream leads and key FTM program stakeholders
Oversee the configuration of new technologies and ensures the technologies meet business requirements for accounting and financial reporting capabilities
Monitor and take action to make sure deadlines and deliverables are met in accordance with workstream and FTM program timelines
Identify, resolve and/or escalate key issues/risks/decisions to maintain workstream progress
Coordinate with business leaders to re-design Finance/Retail business processes, drive business agility, process efficiency and change acceptance
Design, test and implement key finance/accounting system controls focused on system access, financial data quality for system integrations and metadata governance
Identify key data requirements and participate in the design and validation of data to be included in the Finance and Accounting data hubs
Drive change acceptance, articulate benefits to, and design training for core accounting and finance personnel on new systems and processes with key business leaders
Understand data flows and data integrity requirements; participate in the design of complex data integrations and validations
Drive continuous improvement, evaluate new Store, Supply Chain, and Corporate requirements, and implement new and backlog requirements for Direct / Trade Procurement and Payables capabilities within Oracle Cloud ERP
Evaluate existing edge applications for rationalization by adopting delivered ERP functionality
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree Accounting, Finance or related field
5 years combined experience in industry, consulting, and/or public accounting
3 years' experience with implementation/upgrade of retail financial systems or experience in large ERP environment
1 year of experience as a manager in a public company, assurance firm focused on system implementations and/or public accounting
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA or Master's Degree MBA or technical equivalent
1 year experience managing cross-functional teams or processes
