Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.

**Job Summary:**
Responsible for the financial reporting for the health system on an individual company level and on a consolidated basis, as well as the financial accounting and reporting for the Baystate Health Retirement plans. The Director serves as the captive insurance company's lead financial and operational contact (Baystate Health Insurance Company, Ltd.). The Director reports to the Vice President, Support Services.
**Job Description:**
1) Financial Support Liaisons
Serve as support liaison between Health System operating entities, divisions, product lines, other finance departments, management, and external customers to ensure prompt resolution of issues, accuracy of financial information, and timely reporting. Represent Finance on internal and external committees, task forces, and management meetings. Perform monthly financial reporting variance analysis. Provide customer service by researching issues, offering financial expertise, and providing guidance for new accounting pronouncements.
2) General Ledger
Responsible for the policy development and implementation related to modifications to the general ledger structure. Maintenance of the common chart of accounts. Knowledge and accountability for the maintenance and establishment of new/existing cost centers. Ability to program minor changes to the system for ad-hoc reporting and analysis. Reconcile accounts, general ledger interfaces, and bank statements. Research, process, and reconcile inter-company transactions.
3) Audit Compliance
Maintain effectiveness, efficiency, accuracy, and integrity of all financial records and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and internal regulations and policies. Work with BH IT personnel and outside vendors to monitor system performance, make recommendations regarding service expectations, and coordinate testing/scheduling of software upgrades and various enhancements. Maintain technical proficiency of operating information systems and other related software/hardware as well as a thorough working knowledge of technological advances. Ensure prompt identification and resolution of problem areas in an effort to minimize the fees and waiting time associated with vendor support/outside consultants. Prepare annual financial statements for review by external auditors and presentation to the audit committee.
4) Hospital and Physician Net Revenue
Oversight of the monthly and year-end analysis of third-party contractual allowances and reserves, supervises the maintenance of the Crowe RCA system for hospital and physician entities, and provides contractual allowance data for budget and year-end audits.
5) Finance Committee, Audit Committee, and Board of Trustee Support
Prepare monthly financial and CFO reports for the Finance Committees and the Board of Trustees. Prepares financial analysis as requested for board and committee meetings
6) Grant Accounting
Processes monthly expenditures and encumbrances related to the grants.
Works with the Sponsored Program Administration for monthly grant tracking and reporting. Analyzes variances within individual grants. Reconcile activity to the general ledger. Coordination of accounting and audits for research grants with the Sponsored Program Administration
7) Fixed Asset Accounting
Responsible for the maintenance of the BH Corporate fixed assets records. Establishes policy related to the procurement/disposal of all property, plant, and equipment. Calculation of monthly/annual depreciation expense. Calculation of the gain/loss on the disposal of assets. Reconcile activity to the general ledger. Provide appropriate information for internal risk management insurance estimates and external parties such as City/Commonwealth tax agencies.
8) BHIC
Collaborates with Risk Management to prepare the annual budget. Work with senior management to develop budget goals and assist in achieving targets. Coordinate the annual audit process with an external audit firm.
9) Tax Reporting
Prepare annual Forms 1120, 990T, 990, and PC. Coordinate, review and filing of these forms with the external tax advisors. Form 1099 preparation, distribution, and research. Prepare the required real estate and Abandoned Property Filings for the city and state
10) Joint Ventures and Strategic Partnership Accounting and Analysis - Determines accounting treatment for new joint ventures and strategic partnerships, assesses monthly valuations and tax implications, and monitors financial performance.
11) Financial Reporting Analysis
Prepare monthly financial statements for all BH entities (except HNE).
Prepare monthly balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and related commentary and analysis. Create ad hoc financial reports in order to meet the informational needs of BH management and auditors. Prepare audited financial statements and supporting audit schedules for external auditor review. Summarize financial performance for Board and Finance Committee review.
Skills/Summary
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required along with strong analytical capability. Microsoft suite proficiency, General Ledger system proficiency.
