What this job involves:

As a Sr Calibration Technician at JLL, you'll play a critical role in ensuring optimal performance of building automation systems across our portfolio. Working independently under the guidance of the Hard Services Manager, you'll be responsible for programming, monitoring, installing, testing, and re-commissioning sophisticated building automation systems including HVAC, motor drives, building lighting, fire and safety devices, and other integrated systems. You'll serve as the technical expert who maintains and enhances the graphical web interfaces that enable seamless systems monitoring and diagnosis. What your day-to-day will look like:

Program BAS databases and sequences of operation to optimize building equipment operation, energy utilization, indoor air quality, and occupant comfort while meeting manufacturer recommendations

Troubleshoot and refine building automation systems both onsite and remotely via internet connections, modifying programming and graphics as necessary to ensure peak performance

Assist HVAC technicians with complex troubleshooting of comfort, energy, safety, and scheduling concerns while providing detailed systems operations data and trend logging reports

Collaborate with contractors on inspection, installation, repair, and replacement of various building systems components, maintaining clear communication with dispatch, project coordinators, and engineers

Conduct comprehensive quality control checks of projects to ensure proper system operation through on-site reviews, periodic monitoring, and direct communication with building occupants

Serve as subject matter expert in project controls plan design meetings and site visits, interfacing with project coordinators, HVAC technicians, and engineers

Perform site inspections to ensure district standards compliance, review work in progress, and create work orders for needed repairs or improvements

Analyze alarm reports and communicate findings to appropriate personnel while making recommendations to optimize energy and operational usage to minimize client costs

Conduct contracting and estimating tasks including scope identification, pre-bid walkthroughs, quality inspections, and time and material estimates

Required qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent with technical certification in building automation systems, HVAC controls, or related field

Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with building automation systems programming, installation, and maintenance

Proven expertise with multiple communication protocols including BacNet, LonWorks, Siemens, Rockwell Automation, and Honeywell Experion systems

Strong knowledge of electronic, electrical, and mechanical systems including digital and pneumatic controls

Experience programming DDC controllers with DOS-based line programming and Windows-based block programming

Proficiency with diagnostic equipment including multimeters and basic network configuration capabilities

Ability to read and interpret control drawings, electronic schematics, electrical diagrams, and construction drawings

Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, work from ladders up to 26 feet, and operate in confined spaces and varying environmental conditions

Preferred qualifications:

Associate degree in electronics, mechanical systems, or related technical field

Professional certifications from major building automation manufacturers (Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Siemens, etc.)

Advanced knowledge of Niagara Java application control engine (JACE) and related software platforms

Experience with energy management systems and optimization strategies

Previous experience in commercial real estate or facilities management environment

Strong customer service orientation with ability to interact professionally with clients and building occupants
