**Job Description:**
We are seeking an experienced Application Support Engineer with strong expertise in Java and shell/Perl scripting to support, maintain, and enhance enterprise Java applications running on WebLogic and WebSphere. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of experience in complex enterprise environments and a passion for ensuring stability and incremental modernization.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Provide ongoing support, troubleshooting, and enhancement of Java applications primarily built with Java and shell/Perl scripts, ensuring system stability and performance.
+ Analyze application codebases and collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and implement upgrades and incremental enhancements.
+ Participate in all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including deployment, testing, and post-production support, with a focus on maintenance and operational efficiency.
+ Maintain and tune application servers such as WebLogic, WebSphere, Tomcat, and Apache.
+ Develop and maintain shell/Perl scripts to automate operational tasks.
+ Document application architecture, troubleshooting procedures, and operational plans to facilitate knowledge transfer and continuity.
+ Collaborate effectively in agile teams to deliver iterative improvements and rapid resolution of production issues.
+ Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions that balance operational needs and modernization goals.
**Required Skills & Experience**
+ 3 to 5 years of professional experience in application support for Java enterprise environments.
+ Proficient with Java (1.6/1.8+), and scripting (shell, Perl).
+ Experience supporting WebLogic and WebSphere servers.
+ Familiarity with Linux/UNIX environments.
+ Proficient with version control systems (Git, Bitbucket).
+ Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, debug, and tune Java applications.
+ Excellent documentation and communication skills.
**Good-to-Have Skills**
+ Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
+ Familiarity with monitoring and incident management tools.
+ Exposure to REST/SOAP web services and modern Java frameworks.
**Qualifications**
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
