Sr Applications Engineer
Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer & Application SupportAnalyze complex customer requirements and recommend technically sound, practical solutions.Serve as the technical lead for strategic and high‑value customer engagements.Provide expert guidance on system‑level design, feasibility, and trade‑offs throughout the pre‑ and post‑sales process.Deliver advanced troubleshooting support via phone, email, video, and occasional on‑site visits.Act as the final escalation point for challenging hardware, software, and system‑integration issues.Support evaluation of returned products and warranty‑related technical concerns.System Integration & Problem SolvingTroubleshoot multi‑component, multi‑vendor systems involving control systems, automation platforms, and instrumentation.Lead root‑cause analysis activities and collaborate with internal teams to drive corrective and preventive actions.Recommend customized or non‑standard solutions balancing technical risk, customer needs, and business objectives.Collaboration & Product FeedbackPartner closely with Sales, Engineering, Quality, and Product teams to support strategic opportunities and long‑term product improvements.Provide structured, actionable feedback to influence product roadmaps and design enhancements.Document customer interactions, findings, and solutions using standard business systems.Training, Mentorship & Knowledge SharingMentor and support technical team members to strengthen overall capability and consistency.Lead or assist with advanced technical training for internal teams and external partners.Develop application notes, diagrams, and technical guidance to reduce recurring support issues and enhance customer experience.Identify documentation gaps and proactively create or update reference materials.Professional RepresentationRepresent the organization as a technical expert during customer meetings, industry events, and occasional trade shows.Maintain a professional, customer‑focused presence consistent with company values and ethical standards.Physical & Work RequirementsPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 20 lbs as needed.Ability to work at a computer for extended periods and move through technical or production environments.Ability to wear required safety equipment when applicable.General ExpectationsAdhere to all safety requirements, company policies, and ethical standards.Maintain accurate documentation and professional conduct.Perform additional duties as needed to support business objectives.Additional Skills & QualificationsRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.7+ years of experience in applications engineering, systems engineering, or technical support roles involving engineered or industrial products.Proven experience serving as a technical lead or escalation resource in customer‑facing environments.Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly.Experience documenting activities and customer interactions using CRM, ERP, or similar business systems.Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to learn complex product platforms.Excellent time‑management skills and ability to handle shifting priorities independently.Self‑motivated with strong ownership and follow‑through.Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in Engineering or a related field.Experience developing and delivering technical training to diverse audiences.Background supporting configurable or integrated technical solutions.Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Wichita, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $115000.00/hr.
