Sr Analyst, Health Plan Analytics

Role Description:

The Health Plan Analytics team serves to provide Oak Street with reliable and timely analysis on financial trends and patient economics. The team resides within the finance department, and organizations throughout Oak Street rely on its analyses and subject-matter expertise. The Senior Analyst role will use data and analytical skills to execute a set of responsibilities foundational to the work of the team.

 

Core Responsibilities:

Health Plan Operations:

Work closely with Oak Street’s health plan partners to reconcile financial performance on a regular basis

Manage monthly business performance assessment and support analysis of health plan value-based contracts

Analyze underlying drivers of financial results across health plan contracts and population cohorts

Partner with cross-functional teams to collect, validate, and analyze data to support ongoing reporting needs and identify areas for operational improvement

Work with the business intelligence team to validate and ensure accuracy of health plan data files

Collaborate with managed care operations and contracting teams in developing value-based contracting arrangements with health plans

Other duties as assigned

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

Assist with regular reporting on medical costs, utilization, and their drivers, and research any anomalies 

Utilize multiple data sources in order to identify and quantify cost improvement opportunities

Analyze underlying drivers of medical loss ratio performance, both revenues and medical costs, across payor contracts and the business 

Assist with reinsurance contracts, including claims submissions and contract renewals

Work closely with the data ingestion teams to manage data warehouse tables and ensure accuracy of health plan data files for reporting purposes

Prepare ad-hoc analysis and data pulls as needed

Other duties as assigned

Financial Planning and Forecasting:

Assist in the annual budgeting program

Provide analytical leadership for long-range financial modeling and forecasting

Develop analysis/tools to track and better understand the underlying drivers of Oak Street’s business performance

Provide support for financial modeling, forecasting, and other ad hoc analytical needs

 What are we looking for?

Master’s Degree; Finance, Accounting, Economics or related quantitative field preferred

4-6 years of healthcare experience; value-based care or Medicare Advantage experience a plus

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Ability to independently pursue and implement solutions to complex problems

Comfortability analyzing and transforming large data sets 

Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel; experience with other financial and analytical applications highly preferred (e.g., SQL, Alteryx)

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to be personable yet persistent

High level of individual initiative and an eagerness to learn

Ability to adapt and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$46,988.00 - $112,200.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
