About the job 

The Global Communications, Energy & Utilities team is hiring a Senior Account Executive to assist customers and prospects in shaping their strategies and modernizing their solutions. This is a unique opportunity to join a high-performing team with a strong track record of members consistently achieving their targets year after year, earning President’s Club recognition and securing substantial financial rewards. 

The role involves an advanced and strategic understanding of business challenges, presenting SAS solutions, and building relationships with key accounts in the energy and communications market. The focus will be on driving growth in this sector by leveraging existing relationships and creating new ones. This position offers a chance for a highly experienced sales professional to drive our Energy and Communications markets across Iberia. As a Senior AE you will drive successful outcomes, learn from industry leaders, and make a lasting impact by turning complex challenges into meaningful solutions. 

The role will be based on our office in Madrid and will require traveling as per business needs. 

 

As a Senior Account Executive – Energy & Communications, you will 

Act as the SAS Business Lead for the relationship with and revenues from nominated customers and prospects 

Be responsible for achievement of total software & hosting  revenue target and management business objectives. 

Engage with targeted customers and prospect accounts to understand their business needs and then position relevant SAS solutions, managing deals typically from sub‑$50k to $1M+. This can range from tactical opportunities such as upgrades, to large deals involving the full range of SAS capabilities such as software solutions, hosting and consulting. You will work with some of the largest energy and communications companies in Iberia.  

Develop strategies to modernize customer engagement for strategic clients. 

Build and maintain relationships, influencing long‑term strategies and engaging with C‑level decision‑makers. 

Provide expertise in industry, business, and marketing technology to close deals in your assigned territory. 

Support lead‑generation activities and integrate strategies into account plans, qualifying based on business and technical fit. 

Develop opportunities and create compelling proposals to solve customer business challenges. Communicate the value of SAS solutions, collaborating with internal teams. 

Support the closure of complex sales and assist with pricing and licensing negotiations. 

Own the enterprise motion end‑to‑end: territory planning; research & prospecting with Marketing and Business Development; following up Marketing leads and generating your own pipeline (LinkedIn, calls, networking); joint proposals with Customer Advisory/Consulting/Cloud/Industry Specialists; present close plans to Sales leadership; partner with Legal on contracts; leverage SAS exec sponsorship; coordinate with Consulting for delivery; partner with Customer Success to secure renewal. 

 

Required qualifications 

Solid experience engaging with customers at a very senior level, to position complex software solutions 

Experience identifying and solving business challenges, ideally within the Communications and Energy industries. 

Demonstrated experience in consultative selling methodologies, account mapping and navigating complex ecosystems. 

Ability to analyze territory dynamics and execute a sales plan; communicate technical and business concepts and relate them to SAS applications and user needs; work independently and collaboratively. 

Knowledge of SaaS complex solution sales, ideally with a focus on data analytics, AI, Generative AI, and related technologies. Awareness of SAS solutions and services preferred (e.g., Data & AI, Risk, Customer Interaction; see examples for Telecom/Media/Technology). You will be able to sell full gamut of SAS capability to meet customer needs. Training will also be offered on Industry Specific SAS Solutions for Energy and Communications 

Fluent in Spanish and English; Portuguese is an advantage. 

Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered.
