SQL DBA
Nigel Frank International Limited
Job description
Why this role?
This is a chance to join a specialist data services company that values technical excellence and treats DBAs as experts, not ticket‑closers. They work with a broad portfolio of customers, including well‑known household names, supporting important SQL Server environments where stability, performance and resilience really matter.
There is a strong focus on doing things properly, proactive monitoring, structured health checks, clear remediation plans rather than firefighting. If you enjoy ownership, variety, and being listened to, this is a place where DBAs tend to stay.
You'll work with
* SQL Server environments across on‑prem and cloud platforms
* High‑availability and disaster recovery solutions supporting production systems
* Multiple client platforms in a managed services environment
* Monitoring, alerting and proactive health‑check frameworks
* Engineers and stakeholders who value clear communication and practical solutions
What you'll be doing
* Administering and supporting SQL Server environments
* Managing backups, restores, patching, monitoring and alerting
* Designing and maintaining HA/DR solutions
* Responding to BAU incidents, service requests and escalations
* Performing structured database health checks (reliability, security, performance)
* Supporting upgrades, migrations and planned changes
* Working closely with customers to agree and deliver remediation plans
* Contributing to documentation, standards and service improvements
Benefits
* Salary up to £65,000
* Fully remote working (UK based)
* Generous pension contribution
* Income protection and life insurance
* 5 weeks' annual leave, with buy/sell options
* Paid birthday leave, volunteering days and long‑service leave
* Funded training and certifications
* Regular team training sessions and get‑togethers
Key experience
* Proven experience as a SQL Server DBA
* Strong SQL Server administration skills (2008-2022)
* Hands‑on experience with HA/DR technologies
* Solid understanding of backup, recovery and monitoring strategies
* Experience supporting Azure SQL and/or AWS RDS / SQL on VMs
* PowerShell scripting for automation
* Comfortable working in production, customer‑facing environments
