The Specimen Processor is responsible for reviewing specimen packages, including dried blood, dried urine, and saliva, ensuring complete information is included, and routing specimens to the appropriate destination within the company. This role involves receiving, opening, and attaching relevant paperwork and samples, reviewing requisitions for complete patient and billing information, and accurately logging patient information into company software.
Responsibilities
+ Review specimen packages for complete information and route them appropriately.
+ Receive and open specimen packages.
+ Attach relevant paperwork and samples.
+ Review requisitions for complete patient and billing information.
+ Accession laboratory specimens and deliver them to the lab for testing.
+ Accurately log patient information from requisition forms into company software.
+ Conduct document scanning.
+ Route requisitions and payments to the appropriate department for processing.
+ Collaborate with team members to identify, label, and enter information into the computer.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in specimen processing and data entry.
+ Proficiency in accessioning and handling human samples.
+ Strong typing skills (45+ WPM with 90%+ accuracy).
+ Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
+ Good communication skills, flexibility, and adaptability.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ Experience with specimen processing or handling human specimens preferred.
+ Ability to perform basic computer troubleshooting and navigate multiple applications/browser tabs.
+ Attention to detail and adherence to safety guidelines for handling hazardous materials and equipment.
+ Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
Work Environment
The role follows a Monday to Friday schedule, with options for 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM shifts, including a 30-minute or 60-minute lunch break. The work environment involves handling human specimens, wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), and working both independently and collaboratively within a team. The job requires someone who appreciates monotony, enjoys relatively sedentary work, and can adapt to change while following established rules and guidelines. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Beaverton, OR.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
