Join a dynamic team as a Specimen Processor, where you will gain valuable experience in a high-capacity, regulated laboratory environment. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of specimens while adhering to established protocols.
Responsibilities
+ Assist in maintaining supplies, managing inventory, and placing orders.
+ Manage client test results according to established procedures.
+ Utilize the electronic health record (EHR), laboratory information system (LIS), client software (web portal), and email system to efficiently complete daily tasks.
+ Monitor the appropriate test pending logs using the laboratory information system (LIS) and communicate with technical staff to prevent delays in testing.
+ Perform all specimen processing functions to receive and process specimens according to laboratory protocol.
+ Conduct urine collections for drug screens and complete the necessary paperwork.
+ Operate laboratory equipment after receiving applicable training and supervisor approval.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in specimen processing and accessioning.
+ Experience with centrifuge operations.
+ Knowledge of aseptic techniques.
+ Ability to accurately label and accession specimens.
+ Ability to read and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High School diploma required.
+ At least 6 months of laboratory experience.
Work Environment
Work in the central lab of a level 1 trauma center. The position requires availability for the night shift from 2300 to 0730, Monday through Friday, with every other weekend required. Experience a collaborative and fast-paced environment where attention to detail is paramount.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Minneapolis, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.
