QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Doctor of Pharmacy Degree or Master’s degree required. License/Certification: Current New Jersey State license as a Registered Pharmacist required. Medication Therapy Management Certification, Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist (BCACP), Certified Specialty Pharmacist (CSP) preferred. Experience: Minimum of 2 years active pharmacy experience; PGY-1 Residency or PGY-2 Ambulatory Residency preferred. Strong clinical and operational pharmacy background; must demonstrate extensive knowledge of current regulations (USP, NJ Board of Pharmacy, NJ DOH, Joint Commission, CMS, DEA), and ASHP best practice. 
POSITION SUMMARY
The Specialty Pharmacist is responsible for clinical aspects of pharmaceutical care in order to optimize treatment of the specified patient population. The Specialty Pharmacist collaborates with other healthcare professionals as part of an interdisciplinary approach to manage patient outcomes and develop effective medication plans that identify, resolve, and prevent drug-related problems while also assessing clinical outcomes. The Specialty Pharmacist also serves as a dedicated resource to the specified department and patient population as well as participates in drug-research, clinical presentations on new and existing medications and assists with other projects as needed by the department. The position also participates in, but is not limited to, clinical discussions with other providers, providing MTM services/consultations, obtaining medication prior authorizations, therapy compliance, patient counseling, triaging specialty prescriptions to appropriate pharmacy, evaluating patient barriers to medication adherence, coordinating cost issues as they arise and coordinating medication shipping. The Specialty Pharmacist will maintain compliance with all NJBOP regulations along with other state and federal laws.       WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to infectious patients or materials is negligible. Potential for exposure to hazardous and toxic substances (including chemotherapy, cytotoxic drugs and cleaning solutions). Potential for musculoskeletal injuries if proper lifting and carrying techniques are not used.  Physical Requirements: Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., use of a computer keyboard). May require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs.), including boxes, equipment, IV solutions and stooping or kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor; to remove and replace items on lower shelves; to file documents in lower file drawers). Sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time (4-8 hours) are often necessary. Normal range of hearing and vision required to perform work and communicate.     REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This positions report to the department leadership.
