Specialist II, Product Life Cycle Planner
Specialist II, Product Life Cycle Planner POSITION PROFILE Effectively manages the life cycle of equipment/supply products from product launch, the transition period, to the final disposition of obsolete inventory. Job Duties and Responsibilities · Develops/maintains relationships with marketing on product launch materials. Coordinates product launch with REI, deployment, area inventory control. Provides inputs to planning on initial launch quantities and expected monthly run rate. · Works closely with Marketing on the timing of product transitions, watchful of quarter ends and other impact the transition would have on day to day operations. · Leads the product transition call with marketing, planning, deployment, REI, area inventory control to review inventory levels (configured, in the field, out of box, new in box etc...), changes to dates, accessory compatibility. · Understands customer base for transitioning products and works with sales and planning analysts on reserving inventory for phased roll outs. · Calculates final production quantities understanding total network inventory, including REI finished goods and components, both on hand and inbound from overseas, and total network demand for both the direct and indirect channels. · Works closely with regional inventory control, the deployment team, ASCP, and the planners to fill customer orders with demo room and other configured gear to mitigate risk of promotion dollars spent and/or reserve impact. · Responsible for developing promotion plans for items that have transitioned, getting approvals from finance, and coordinating the execution with marketing. · Understands different channels to move product to, wholesale, reman, reverse auction, etc...., once product has no residual damand through normal channels. · Provide input to the planning analysts on final disposition of the products that cannot be moved/sold. · Provide analysis on upcoming risks to the P&L by projecting what items and when these items will be hitting the reserve. Proactively and aggressively action these items before they create a negative impact to the P&L. · Work with finance on FY planning by providing the product transition schedule and estimates of promotional dollars to be spent, timing/changes of the reserve hits, and expected scrap dollars needed. · Understand the supplies aspect of the transitions and coordinate with coding on item set up, production on total network inventory management, and planning on forecasting and system requirements. QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, and Certifications) · Four year college degree · Five year experience in the demand planning/forecasting field KNOWLEDGE, Skills And Abilities · Advanced user in MS Excel and Access · Intermediate user in other MS Office Applications · Six Sigma, APICs certification a plus · Oracle knowledge a plus · Programming languages/SQL knowledge a plus. · Advanced understanding of demand planning software applications **Working Conditions, MENTAL aND PHYSICAL DEMANDS** · Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation, and a normal range of temperature and noise level · Requires internal contact within department and with other corporate personnel, and external contact with customers, agencies, vendors, etc. and General Public · Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problem · Modest physical effort is required. Work does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 20 lbs.
