You will:
Safely operate and maintain ceramic processing and testing equipment including furnaces, rigs, and millsTroubleshoot and oversee the repair of furnace and burner rig systemsBe responsible for responding to furnace system alarms, including occasionally after hoursBe responsible for tracking and ordering supplies and consumablesWork with trades and other equipment specialistsProcess structural and functional ceramic materialsAssist in the development of new ceramic material systemsPerform basic characterization such as particle size measurement, microscopy, and viscosityPerform testing on advanced ceramic materialsInvent and patent when appropriateQUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
MS in Ceramic Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or related discipline; or Bachelor’s degree with greater than 5 years’ experience in ceramic processing or furnace systems.Familiarity with ceramic processingAbility to troubleshoot process equipmentUnderstanding of furnace systems including operation and components (including elements, temperature measurement, controllers, and insulation)Experience with material processing and characterizationAbility to adapt to new processesAbility to work with diverse, high-paced teamsWilling to work government funded programsLegal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary. This posting is expected to close on January 15, 2025
