SOURCING MANAGER

About the job

As Sourcing Manager at HAY, you will play a central role in shaping and executing HAY’s global sourcing setup across Furniture and Lighting. You will work at the intersection of design, manufacturing, and commercial performance, ensuring that new products are sourced competitively, responsibly, and at scale.

The role combines strategic supplier management with hands-on involvement in new product development, requiring close collaboration with Product Development, Procurement (Operational execution), Quality, Sustainability, and senior leadership team of HAY. You will be responsible for translating design ambition and business requirements into robust supplier solutions that support growth, margin, and long-term resilience.

You will manage a defined supplier portfolio and categories, while also contributing to broader sourcing platform development initiatives such as dual sourcing, capacity expansion, and cost optimization. As part of a team of four Sourcing Managers, you will work with a high degree of autonomy, accountability, and cross-functional exposure in an international context. Travel to suppliers in Europe and Asia (approximately 30 days per year) is expected.

More specifically, your daily tasks will include:

New Product Development (NPD)Engage from the earliest design stage to assess supplier feasibility, lead times, and cost structuresLead supplier quotations and cost modelling for new launches to ensure target margins and commercial readinessNegotiate commercial terms (price, MOQ, lead time, sustainability) and align supplier agreements with approved business casesPrepare and validate launch forecasts and ensure supplier readiness before handover to ProcurementStrategic Supplier ManagementLead contract negotiations and maintain framework agreements with assigned suppliersEnsure that supplier contracts cover pricing structures, rebates, quality standards, and sustainability complianceTrack cost drivers and raw-material developments to safeguard long-term competitivenessDrive value engineering (VA/VE) and cost-reduction initiatives in close collaboration with Product DevelopmentSourcing & Platform DevelopmentDevelop and maintain a strong, balanced supplier base across Europe and AsiaIdentify and onboard new suppliers and manufacturing technologies to support growth and risk mitigationBenchmark supplier performance and ensure alignment with sourcing strategies across the Sourcing Manager teamDrive dual-sourcing, localization, and capacity-expansion initiatives to secure flexibility and scalabilityCross-Functional CollaborationAct as the commercial link between Product Development and Procurement, ensuring smooth project transitionsCollaborate with Quality and Sustainability teams to secure full supplier complianceContribute to category and sourcing strategies in close alignment with peers and managementRepresent HAY towards suppliers with one global voice across the sourcing organization

Experience required

+5 years of experience within sourcing, procurement, or supplier management, preferably in furniture, lighting, or design-led consumer goodsProven experience with supplier negotiations, cost modelling, and commercial contractsSolid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and cost driversExperience working with suppliers across Europe and AsiaStrong analytical skills and ability to translate complex data into clear recommendationsExperience with sustainability requirements, compliance standards, and responsible sourcing is an advantageFluent in English & Danish
