SoS Integration Engineer
SAIC
**Description**
SAIC’s Horizon program is seeking an experienced **SoS Integration Engineer** with deep expertise in systems integration, space-based Space Domain Awareness (SDA), and Space Surveillance & Reconnaissance (S&R) to support the U.S. Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC). This senior engineer will embed full-time with the Government’s Space Reconnaissance team, helping shape and deliver the next generation of space-based SDA and S&R capabilities. This position is located in El Segundo, CA.
You will serve as a systems engineer and technical integrator, working directly with the customer responsible for development and delivery of the next generation GEO-based SDA satellite constellation that will provide reconnaissance and surveillance of resident space objects in and around the GEO-belt. You will join and actively participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to ensure successful integration of space segment, ground segment, external communications, external mission tasking, and external data distribution systems.
**Fun stuff you will do on the job:**
+ Serve as the primary systems engineer for integration of the Reconnaissance at GEO advanced satellite constellation (RG-XX) with tactical command and control, mission planning, space-to-ground satellite communications, mission data processing and distribution, and support elements.
+ Embed with the development team and participate in program IPTs to influence architecture, design, and implementation for the RG-XX constellation and all system interfaces.
+ Provide technical oversight of system development and integration efforts (design, development, manufacturing, integration/test, production, sustainment planning) across both traditional and agile/prototype acquisition approaches.
+ Define and evolve Interface Control Documents (ICDs) to govern system interfaces to enable sensor orchestration, mission execution, and space-ground data fusion.
+ Guide end-to-end system integration, from space sensor tasking through collection and distribution of actionable information for defensive and offensive space control.
+ Participate in design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and test planning to ensure integrated capabilities meet warfighter space superiority objectives.
+ Lead risk management activities—identifying, analyzing, and mitigating technical and programmatic risks associated with RG-XX integration.
+ Coordinate across USSF, SSC, SpOC, NSDC, and USSPACECOM government agencies, commercial partners, and allied nations to establish cross-domain sensor tasking and data-sharing architectures.
**Qualifications**
**This is you:**
+ Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 14 years of experience with:
+ Engineering, space systems, and related technical disciplines.
+ SDA systems, including sensor networks, data processing pipelines, analytics platforms, space object tracking techniques, data fusion, orbit determination and prediction, space traffic management, catalog maintenance, and conjunction assessment.
+ System-of-systems architecture and complex interface integration.
+ Sensor integration, including knowledge of sensor data formats, sensor calibration, and data processing.
+ Cloud-based ground architectures and modern C2 concepts (e.g., Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (AaaS).
+ Must have an in-scope security background investigation (T5), adjudicated for SCI eligibility and enrolled in the Continuous Vetting program (if applicable).
+ Must be willing to be nominated for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information and, or Special Access Programs, and consent to a polygraph examination.
**You will wow us even more if you have these skills:**
+ Advanced degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace, or related technical field.
+ Experience with:
+ Data analytics techniques, data visualization tools, and machine learning
+ Cybersecurity, including understanding of threat landscape for SDA systems, familiarity with application of Risk
+ Management Framework (RMF), and incident response.
+ SDA technologies, including space-based electro-optical (EO) payloads, operating systems, algorithms and software, and databases for SDA data processing and storage.
+ Operational space units (e.g., Delta 9, NSDC, JTF-SD, CSpOC).
+ Supporting USSF/SSC space control or SDA programs.
+ Prior work in U.S. Government weapons system or space mission program offices, with experience in requirements management, configuration management, change management, testing, and risk management.
+ Ability to communicate complex SDA information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
+ Professional certifications (e.g., INCOSE CSEP, PE, Agile PM/PO, ITEA CTEP).
Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
