JOB SUMMARY: The Solution Architect is accountable for ensuring that solution designs support sound financial accounting practices, accurate financial reporting, and audit-ready outcomes. The Solution Architect is the senior functional and technical authority for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain implementations. This role owns solution design from pre-sales through delivery, ensures alignment to client business outcomes, and leads consultants through successful execution. The Solution Architect acts as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders, partners closely with Program Managers, and ensures solutions are scalable, supportable, and aligned with Arctic IT best practices.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Solution Ownership
Own end to end solution design for Dynamics 365 F&SCM implementations Translate business requirements into scalable functional and technical designs Align the solution and implementation approach with executive priorities Lead solution design efforts to produce design deliverables that align to approved scope, quality standards, and client objectives Make and defend design decisions with confidence and sound judgment Promote architectural standards and intervene when delivery decisions deviate from approved designs Propose chart of accounts changes and business process changes, where appropriate and collaboratively work with stakeholders to define and implement the changes Validate that solution designs support: Accurate subledger-to-ledger posting Financial statement integrity Period close and reconciliation processes Ensure financial dimension, ledger, and reporting designs align with: Accounting standards Management reporting needs Audit and compliance expectations Evaluate trade-offs with a clear understanding of accounting impact, not just system behavior
Platform Architecture
Define the overall Dynamics 365 F&SCM platform architecture, including environment strategy, release cadence, and lifecycle governance Design data management and integration patterns, including DMF, dual write considerations, Azure Data Lake, BYOD, and downstream reporting architecture Establish security architecture standards, including role design, duties, segregation of duties, and compliance alignment Approve extension and customization approaches, ensuring alignment with Arctic IT best practices, Microsoft best practices, and long-term supportability Govern integration architecture like Azure services (Logic Apps, Service Bus, Functions, APIs) and enforce approved patterns Oversee application lifecycle management through LCS and PPAC, including issue management, performance monitoring, and service readiness Evaluate platform constraints and proactively identify risks related to scalability, performance, and maintainability
Client Leadership
Lead discovery, requirements gathering, and gap analysis sessions Act as the primary solution authority in client facing discussions Clearly communicate risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations to stakeholders Build trust and credibility with executive and operational leaders
Delivery Partnership
Guide Functional and Technical Consultants through design and build phases Partner with Program Managers on delivery strategy, risks, and dependencies Ensure configurations, customizations, and integrations align with approved designs Provide escalation support, effort estimation, and solution guidance when challenges arise Explicit ownership of: Backlog structure Requirement-to-design-to-build traceability Architectural validation via work items
Pre Sales and Growth
Support pre-sales solutioning, estimates, and demonstrations as needed Contribute to proposal development and implementation approach, if needed Identify value add opportunities responsibly and communicate them to sales leadership Research and recommend ISV and integration solutions
Team Leadership and Standards
Mentor and coach consultants to raise overall delivery capability Contribute to implementation methodology, standards, and best practices Represent Arctic IT professionally and consistently in all client interactionsQualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Computer Science, or related field 10+ years delivering Microsoft Dynamics D365 F&SCM solutions Proven experience as a Solution Architect or senior functional leader on ERP implementations Strong functional expertise in multiple areas of Finance and Supply Chain Strong understanding of financial accounting, financial statements, and reporting requirements in an ERP context Ability to reason about accounting implications of configuration, customization, and integration decisions Experience designing and overseeing integrations and ISV solutions Demonstrated ability to build trust with business and technical stakeholders Experience guiding multi-discipline consulting teams Valid Driver’s License required Applicants subject to government security investigations and clearance requirementsPreferred Experience:
Broader Microsoft Dynamics experience beyond F&SCM, including BC and Power Platform Experience designing solutions for complex, multi-company and multi-site organizations Additional exposure to Dynamics F&SCM modules such as Distribution, HR or Payroll, or Field Service Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The majority of work for this role is performed in a home office and interacts with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities and abilities. Telecommuters are expected to have sufficient home office space that appears neat, organized and professional when on video meetings. Travel is required and varies around 25%.
