SolidWorks CAD Designer

Manpower Engineering is seeking a SolidWorks CAD Designer for our Troy, MI client. This is an on-site contract position, requiring close interaction with engineering, manufacturing, and technicians.
Candidates will be asked to take a hands-on SolidWorks proficiency test as part of the interview process.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Create and revise 2D drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks.
+ Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and calculations to develop design layouts.
+ Collaborate with engineers and product teams to ensure design accuracy, functionality, and manufacturability.
+ Research and contact potential suppliers, coordinate data transfers, and coordinate requests for quote (RFQ)
+ Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including BOMs, detail drawings, and assembly drawings.
+ Participate in design reviews, prototype development, and revisions based on feedback.
+ Update and manage drawing files in PDM/PLM systems as needed.
+ Support change management processes and assist in implementing engineering change notices (ECNs).
+ Occasionally assist with reverse engineering, redlining, or field measurement as required.
+ Support manufacturing, assembly, testing, inspection, etc. as needed
**Qualifications:**
+ Required: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, or related field.
+ 5+ years of experience as a CAD Designer in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
+ Proficiency in SolidWorks
+ Understanding of GD&T, dimensioning, tolerancing, and material selection.
+ Experience with engineering documentation, technical drawings, and industry standards (e.g., ANSI, ASME, ISO).
