Our people make all the difference in our success. This role is a Senior Manager within our UM Technology Organization. Within this role we will ask you to cultivate an empowered team of high performing engineers who are deeply passionate about building quality software products. You will foster ongoing agile engineering transformation and continuous improvement throughout the organization, advocating for common engineering patterns, efficiency, quality, resiliency, security and performance.
The Senior Manager owns the output of a single work area within Engineering, working with the teams to support AI and Automation needs of the organization. This role utilizes in-depth professional knowledge but is guided by functional practices and focuses on implementing and executing strategies within own department/discipline/team. This role requires building strong matrix relationships with business partners, peer engineering teams, architects, infrastructure engineers, and our onshore partners.
**Responsibilities**
+ Lead a fast-moving agile team, working with tool/technologies across AI and Automation frameworks
+ Analyze advanced, distributed solutions that process, store, and quickly retrieve huge volumes of data and identify root cause
+ Support other product delivery partners in the successful build, test, and release of solutions
+ Solve problems by crafting software solutions using maintainable and modular code.
+ Lead daily team standup meetings where you'll give and receive updates on the current backlog and challenges.
+ Provides thought leadership and technical expertise across the UM technology organization
+ Utilize end-to-end knowledge of product ecosystems, business transactions, technology stack, dependencies, and engineering practices to ensure applications are designed and constructed using solid engineering patterns
+ Encourage innovation and diversity of thought to solve complex business problems
+ Partner with business and technical product owners to optimize working relationships and clarify roles and responsibilities
+ Takes accountability for the technology assets owned by the team.
+ Understanding the Business and the Application Architecture End to End
**Qualifications**
**Required Skills:**
+ Experience with cloud platforms ( **Azure, AWS, GCP** ) and have hands-on experience in **ML**
+ Diverse technical experience, including AI model development, software engineering, regulated software quality, and monitoring of deployed software.
+ Experience with data modeling and data exploration tools, including expertise in the use of scientific computing and data management packages is required.
+ Understand working in a compliance based and regulated environment, including building, deploying, and supporting secure software throughout the AI development life cycle.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
+ Strong influencing/negotiation skills.
+ Strong interpersonal/relationship management skills.
+ Strong time and people management skills.
+ Familiarity with agile methodology including SCRUM team leadership.
+ Familiarity with modern delivery practices such as continuous integration, behavior/test driven development, and specification by example.
+ Solid understanding of **OOP, Design Patterns and Data Structures**
+ Experience in building REST APIs/Microservices
+ A demonstrated ability to provide vision and strategic direction at an institutional or enterprise level.
**Required Experience & Education:**
+ 13+ years of professional experience including people leader experience.
+ Experience in **Databricks** within an Azure environment
+ Data Engineering experience
+ Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
+ Proven experience leading/managing teams (at-least 30 or more people) with a passion for developing the talent within the team.
+ Experience with vendor management in an onshore/offshore model.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
