About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Software Engineering Manager – Data Engineering to lead a high‑performing team responsible for building and modernizing enterprise‑scale data platforms. This role requires a blend of strong technical depth, people leadership, delivery excellence, and strategic decision‑making. You will own team performance, drive delivery of complex data initiatives, and partner closely with senior architects and product leadership to shape CIMADS data platform capabilities.
As a frontline manager, you will be responsible for enabling your team to deliver high‑quality, scalable batch and streaming data solutions that power customer‑centric decisioning, analytics, and business‑critical applications.

Key Responsibilities
Foster a culture of accountability, technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.Ensure proper workload balancing, sprint planning, and resource allocation across the team.Guide technical design and architecture discussions for batch and streaming data pipelines.Review solution designs, ensuring scalability, performance, security, and adherence to CIMADS standards.Drive adoption of best practices in coding, data quality, governance, observability, and platform reliability.Delivery Ownership
Own end‑to‑end delivery of data ingestion, transformation, distribution, and platform capabilities.Monitor and guide your team through sprint planning, execution, and release cycles.Identify delivery risks, manage dependencies, and ensure timely and high‑quality outcomes.Partner with DevOps teams to ensure robust CI/CD, automation, and deployment reliability.Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, and cross‑functional partners to define roadmaps, priorities, and delivery plans.Act as a primary point of contact for your area—communicating progress, risks, and technical decisions.Align engineering execution with business priorities and organizational goals.Required Skills & Experience
4+ years of relevant experience in data engineering, Big Data, and modern data platforms, with at least 2–4 years in people leadership.Strong technical background across:PySpark, Spark, Hadoop, HiveETL/ELT tools (Informatica, Ansible etc.)SQL & NoSQL databases (SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)Streaming platforms (Kafka)Linux/Unix systems and CLI commandsBatch & real-time stream processing architecturesStrong understanding of CI/CD, automation, DevOps, GitHub, Jenkins, and Gradle, GCP (BigQuery, Cloud Composer)Experience ensuring observability using Splunk, Grafana, CloudWatch, AppDynamics, Elastic, etc.Proven experience modernizing legacy systems and contributing to data platform strategy.Soft Skills
