**Description** SAIC is seeking **Software Engineer Interns** to support the U. S. Army program in creating experimental software applications located in El Paso, Texas. **MUST BE - El Paso, Texas local and willing to support the team year-round** The Software Engineer Intern will participate in developing, deploying, operating, and maintaining a suite of software applications with unique challenges in combining legacy code with some of the latest software technology. **Responsibilities:** + Design, develop, and implement new software features based on project requirements + Write clean, well-documented code adhering to coding standards and best practices + Identify, debug, and resolve software defects + Participate in software requirements, code reviews, and test plan reviews + Create and maintain technical documentation for developed features + Collaborating with team members in-person and/or via Microsoft Teams to plan, estimate, and complete projects **Qualifications** **Required Education:** + Currently enrolled in a STEM or technical degree path and two (2) years of college or work related experience **Qualifications:** + Experience with Java or C/C++ Familiarity with Linux operating system and command-line interface + Proficiency in using version control systems like Git to manage code changes + Knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) including requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, and deployment + Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams including product managers, analysts, and other engineers + Analytical skills to identify and troubleshoot technical issues, coming up with creative solutions to complex problems **Required Clearance:** + Must possess or be able to obtain a SECRET security clearance (US citizenship required) REQNUMBER: 2508925 SAIC is a premier technology integrator, solving our nation's most complex modernization and systems engineering challenges across the defense, space, federal civilian, and intelligence markets.
