As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and community banking technology team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
Job Responsibilities
Assist in designing, building, and maintaining automation frameworks for backend APIs (RESTful, GraphQL) and event-driven systems.Support the integration of automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for early defect detection.Help validate API response times, throughput, and scalability; assist in identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.Participate in resiliency and chaos testing activities for APIs and distributed systems, simulating failures and monitoring system recovery.Collaborate with developers and senior engineers to implement shift-left testing practices, including unit and integration tests.Support the use of AI/ML-based tools for test case generation and test data creation.Assist in building frameworks for security, compliance, and data validation testing of APIs and event-driven streams.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experienceGeneral experience in backend API test automationBasic understanding of API protocols (REST, GraphQL, SOAP) and data formats (JSON, XML).Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and shift-left testing principles.Programming experience in Java, Python, or similar languages.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
Exposure to Kafka (Apache Kafka, Confluent) including basic producer/consumer concepts and stream processing.Experience with cloud-native APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).Knowledge of API and Kafka security testing (OWASP, OAuth, JWT, SASL, ACLs).Experience with AI/ML tools and models Understanding of monitoring and observability tools for distributed systems.
