As a Software Engineer III - Mainframe Developer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Bank - Broker Dealer Platform team, you'll serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

 

Job responsibilities

Lead the design, development, and implementation of mainframe solutions that support business objectives and operational needs.Collaborate with business users to gather requirements, understand business processes, and translate them into technical solutions.Provide advanced support for mainframe applications, proactively identifying areas for improvement and implementing enhancements.Oversee the integration of mainframe data with big data platforms, ensuring data quality, consistency, and alignment with business requirements.Lead the resolution of complex incidents and problems, performing root cause analysis and driving long-term solutions.Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce operational risk.Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for processes, solutions, and business logic. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, hands-on experience in usage of AI in everyday work.

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experienceBachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.Experience in mainframe technologies (COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM, MQ, etc.).Strong business acumen and experience working closely with business stakeholders.Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Demonstrated knowledge of usage of AI tools (Github Co-pilot, IBM Watson X or equivalent tools) in the software development life cycle.

Experience with data integration between mainframe and distributed platforms is a plus.Good understanding of Post Trade business (Trade Processing, Settlements/Bookkeeping/ Statements/ Product & Pricing and Accounting concepts)Exposure to distributed and cloud technologies
