What you'll do:
As a Software Engineer III (AI/ML Engineer) on Walmart’s Logging Platform team, you will play a key role in developing and deploying machine learning solutions to analyze and optimize Walmart’s large-scale log data. You will collaborate with engineers and data scientists to build intelligent systems for log analysis, anomaly detection, and predictive monitoring, directly supporting Walmart’s operational excellence and digital transformation. This role offers hands-on experience with advanced AI/ML technologies, exposure to cloud-based data platforms, and the opportunity to make a significant impact in a global retail technology environment.
Design, development, and deployment of AI/ML models for large-scale log data analysis, anomaly detection, and predictive monitoring, working closely with senior engineers, data scientists, and cross-functional stakeholders.Own and drive the end-to-end ML workflow: data ingestion, feature engineering, model selection, training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring in production.Research, evaluate, and implement state-of-the-art ML algorithms and frameworks to solve real-world problems in logging, observability, and operational intelligence.Automate log pattern recognition, root cause analysis, and system health scoring using advanced analytics and ML techniques.Integrate AI/ML solutions into Walmart’s cloud-based logging infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP), ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.Stay current with the latest advancements in AI/ML, big data, and logging/observability technologies, and proactively contribute to technical strategy and innovation.Communicate technical concepts, project updates, and results effectively to stakeholders at various levels.What You'll Bring
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.4+ years of industry experience in software engineering or ML engineering, preferably in large-scale, distributed systems.Demonstrated expertise in Python and experience with ML libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.Strong understanding of machine learning fundamentals (classification, regression, clustering, feature engineering, model evaluation).Experience in cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and deploying ML models in production.Proven track record of delivering scalable, high-quality AI/ML solutions in complex, data-driven environments.Experience with data analysis, visualization, and exploratory data analysis tools (e.g., pandas, matplotlib, seaborn).Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across engineering, data science, and business teams.Deep technical expertise in AI/ML engineering and software development.A proactive, ownership-driven approach to problem-solving and project delivery.Ability to interpret data and trends, diagnose complex issues, and formulate effective action plans.Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor others and foster a collaborative team culture.Passion for innovation and continuous learning in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.About Walmart Global Tech
