As a Software Engineer II - AWS and Python Developer at JPMorgan Chase within Consumer and Community Banking - Consumer Card Technology team, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the software components of the firm’s state-of-the-art technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As an emerging member of a software engineering team, you execute software solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role.

 

Job responsibilities

Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problemsCreates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systemsProduces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code developmentDesigns and delivers trusted data collection, storage, access, and analytics data platform solutions in a secure, stable, and scalable wayDefines database back-up, recovery, and archiving strategy Design and develop data pipelines to ingest, store, and process data from multiple sourcesProactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architectureGathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systemsContributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologiesAdds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experienceHands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stabilityHands-on practical experience of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and associated componentsHands on experience of python and developing python based applications with API and hands on experience building Java Microservices, Spark, etc.Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languagesCloud implementation experience with AWS including; AWS Services: Proficiency in Lake formation, Glue ETL (or) EMR, S3, Glue Catalog, EC2, ECS , Load Balancer, Athena, Kinesis (or) MSK, Airflow (or) Lambda + Step Functions + Event BridgeData De/Serialization: Expertise in at least 2 of the formats: Parquet, Iceberg, AVRO, JSON-LDAWS Data Security: Good Understanding of security concepts such as: Lake formation, IAM, Service roles, Encryption, KMS, Secrets ManagerStrong data warehouse knowledge such as Snowflake, or database knowledge such as Oracle or Postgres Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle

 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Knowledge on Analytical App development: REACT / JavaScript / CSSKnowledge on Docker, Kubernetes etc.Knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems Able to work in a team and the ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversightStrong written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and partners
