**About the Role** Uber Advertising is building a new generation of display & video ads that help brands grow on Uber’s marketplace, and this role sits at the core of that effort. The Ads team at Uber is dedicated to creating world class advertising systems that strike the right balance between advertiser performance and exceptional shopper experience. We own the critical ad supply and serving layers across Uber’s global marketplace. Our mission is to scale Uber’s ad footprint by optimizing & expanding supply for existing formats and building the next generation of engaging ad experiences. Our team is looking for a highly motivated software engineer to contribute to this mission. Your contributions will directly impact a rapidly growing business unit reaching millions of customers worldwide. **What You'll Do** - Own the end-to-end development of features and projects for ad formats within the Uber marketplace, such as Sponsored Listings, Sponsored Items, Storefront Ads, Billboards, Post-Checkout, etc. This includes design, implementation, testing, and deployment, and monitoring. - Design and build robust, scalable, and high-performance components for ad insertion and user experience flows. - Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Data Scientists to translate product requirements and analytical insights into technical designs and solutions. - Conduct thorough code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring adherence to engineering best practices. - Contribute to the team's on-call rotation and proactively identify areas for system improvement, reliability, and technical debt reduction. - Mentor junior engineers on technical best practices, system understanding, and project execution. **Basic Qualifications** - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field **OR** 1-year full-time Software Engineering work experience, **WHICH INCLUDES** 1-year total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas: Programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java, Python, or Go) **Preferred Qualifications** - Supported and mentored peers or junior team members, and enjoy fostering a collaborative, inclusive team culture. - Knowledge of the ad tech landscape, programmatic advertising, and digital marketing trends. - Familiar with A/B testing and experimentation. - Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including sales, ad operations, product, data science, and engineering to drive continuous improvement and innovation in ad capabilities. - Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively. - Experience building and integrating with ad technologies. In-depth understanding of programmatic advertising. - Experience in leveraging data and ML-driven insights to maximize outcomes. - Working knowledge of ML/AI/GenAI techniques and an ability to apply them to Engineering and product processes such as ad insertion, targeting, or quality.
