**Overview**
The Software Engineer I plays a key role in supporting Brightstar Lottery’s production, security, and operational systems. In this entry‑level role, you’ll help design, develop, test, and enhance the software applications that power our secure, high‑volume manufacturing environment. You’ll collaborate closely with experienced engineers to build and maintain internal tools, production controls, data workflows, and application features that keep our lottery‑printing operations running smoothly and securely.
This role typically works up to 8‑hour shifts based on business needs.
**What You’ll Do**
+ Contribute to the design, coding, testing, and documentation of software that supports production, quality assurance, and secure‑print operations.
+ Build and maintain internal tools for data processing, production tracking, system configuration, and operational reporting.
+ Troubleshoot software issues, identify root causes, and support mission‑critical applications.
+ Participate in code reviews and follow established development practices to help improve coding standards and team workflows.
+ Partner with cross‑functional teams—including Engineering, IT, Production, and Security—to gather requirements and deliver system enhancements that support daily operations.
+ Assist with integrations across hardware systems, databases, and automation tools used in our ticket manufacturing process.
+ Maintain accurate documentation for software changes, system configurations, and functional updates.
+ Follow all ISO, security, and compliance procedures to ensure data integrity and controlled software handling.
+ Take on additional tasks as needed to support system reliability and operational efficiency.
**What You Bring**
B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
Understanding of core software engineering principles, version control, and debugging practices
Familiarity with one or more programming languages (C#, Java, Python, JavaScript)
**Preferred**
+ Experience working with SQL or relational databases
+ Exposure to manufacturing systems, automation tools, or industrial process environments
+ Understanding of APIs, data‑exchange formats, and system integrations
+ Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem‑solving mindset

At Brightstar, we consider a wide range of factors in determining compensation, including background, skills, experience, and work location. These factors can cause your compensation to vary. The estimated starting compensation range is $39,848 - $103,002. The actual pay offered may end up being higher or lower. The Company will comply with all local pay requirements and collective bargaining agreements, where applicable.
Base pay is only one part of our Total Rewards program. Sales roles may be eligible for commission payments, while other roles are eligible for discretionary bonuses. In addition, we offer employees a 401(k) Savings Plan with Company contributions, health, dental, and vision insurance, life, accident, and disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, wellness programs, and identity theft insurance.
