Meet the Team
You will join a collaborative engineering organization that builds software guided by Cisco’s Design Thinking Principles, prioritizing simplification, user experience, secure coding, user privacy, and best‑practice development standards. The team is composed of professionals with various seniority and expertise areas (backend/frontend). Software engineers partner closely with design, product management, and cross‑functional stakeholders to deliver solutions that create real value for customers. Knowledge sharing, mentorship, innovation, and process improvement are core to how the team operates.
Your Impact
Gain a good understanding of our product architecture, usage patterns, and real-world deployment scenarios to develop solutions that will bring value to our customers
Collaborate with other team members to craft and build durable solutions, keeping scalability and performance considerations as a high priority
Lead projects end-to-end and drive their completion with minimal direction
Keep product quality top of mind with automated testing
Become well-versed in Splunk's core technologies as they apply to application development
Be part of the on-call shift team, up to 20% of time
Minimum Qualifications
3+ years of relevant industry experience
Proficiency in Python programming
Working experience with Linux environments and cloud deployments (e.g. AWS), emphasizing standard scalability and security processes
Experience in collaboration with design and engineering teams to plan, develop, and release high quality software
Preferred qualifications
Experience in design and development of RESTful services (using OpenAPI spec)
Experience with containers (Docker) and understanding of CI/CD delivery processes
Knowledge of backend development frameworks (e.g. Django)
Experience with non-relational databases (NoSQL)
Experience in test-driven development (TDD)
Working knowledge or willingness to learn web development (e.g. HTML5/CSS, JavaScript, React.js, Node.js)
