Software Development Manager, Enterprise Device Management Platform
Amazon.com
Application deadline: Jan 28, 2026
Build the enterprise management platform that will make every Amazon device enterprise-ready. You'll lead the team solving a critical architectural challenge: replacing fragmented solutions across device families with a unified control plane that lets IT admins manage Echo, Kindle, Fire TV, and Tablets through a single interface.
Here's what makes this role unique: you're not just managing a team—you're architecting the foundation that will enable entirely new enterprise device businesses to launch. Most Amazon devices today lack enterprise management capabilities, and the few that exist are fragmented across different teams with inconsistent implementations. You'll build the common primitives that every product line can leverage, eliminating the need for each team to build enterprise features from scratch.
What problems will you solve:
- Eliminate the fragmentation that forces enterprise customers to learn different management interfaces for each Amazon device type
- Accelerate product line velocity by providing ready-to-use enterprise capabilities instead of requiring each team to build from scratch
- Create the single API contract that lets third-party management platforms integrate once and support all Amazon devices
- Balance the tension between shipping fast for urgent product launches and maintaining architectural integrity for long-term platform health
What you'll build and own:
- The unified agent that runs on every Amazon device to enforce policies, assess security posture, and execute remote commands
- Cloud services for policy management, device enrollment, and posture reporting
- The external API that partners use to integrate with Amazon devices
- A team of engineers working across device-side code (Rust, C++, C) and backend services
You'll partner directly with product line leaders to understand their enterprise needs, make the hard calls about what goes into the platform versus what stays product-specific, and serve as the technical voice to external partners. Your success will be measured by how fast you enable product lines to ship enterprise features and how seamlessly partners can integrate with Amazon devices.
If you love building durable platforms that unlock new business opportunities, thrive in ambiguous problem spaces, and want to see your work enable devices across Amazon's entire portfolio, this role is for you.
Key job responsibilities
- Hire, mentor, and develop engineers with expertise spanning device-side programming (Rust, C++, C), backend service development, and security engineering
- Drive the architectural vision for the unified enterprise management platform, balancing immediate product line needs with long-term platform durability
- Own end-to-end delivery of critical capabilities including zero-touch enrollment, remote device management (wipe, lock, reboot), policy orchestration, and security posture reporting
- Partner with product line leaders across Echo, Kindle, Fire TV, and Tablets to understand enterprise requirements and prioritize platform capabilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including device OS teams, security teams, and cloud infrastructure teams
- Serve as the technical liaison with external management platform vendors and enterprise partners
- Define and track success metrics around adoption, operational health, and time-to-onboard new devices
- Make critical trade-offs between feature velocity and architectural integrity—accelerating product lines while guarding platform primitives
- Ensure operational excellence with high availability and low latency for remote commands and robust end-to-end test automation across federated development environments
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, operational rigor, and customer obsession
