Key job responsibilities
•Lead the software team to build and deploy the Amazon Leo Point of Presence software to deliver broadband internet service
•Work with the product and business teams to define requirements, drive roadmap to leverage Amazon’s AWS network resources, connect consumer and enterprise users to the public/private networks
•Work with peer teams and customers to design suitable software systems and interfaces with underlying hardware to fulfill the Amazon Leo networking goals.
•Develop a strategic plan for the growth of the team, both from a software and integrated mission outcomes perspective.
•Hire & Develop a diverse team of software engineers and managers.
•Aid in the design of mission critical systems in Amazon Leo.
•Collaborate with your fellow team members to integrate various system elements, both hardware and software.
A day in the life
This role is for a Software Development Manager in the Amazon Leo PoP Software organization, responsible for driving the research & development, deployment and operation of the Amazon Leo Point of Presence software. You will own the roadmap and mission for Software and work with your customers to refine requirements, understand constraints, hire & grow your team and iteratively deliver value to our customers.
About the team
Within Amazon Leo, the Point of Presence team is responsible for connecting end users to the internet. The team works closely with the ground networking and AWS teams to design the network architecture, and with the payload and network software teams to deliver end to end service.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 5+ years of Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupational experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
