Description Alternative Fulfillment (AF) develops and manages supplementary fulfillment channels to complement Amazon's primary fulfillment network. Our key programs include Direct Fulfillment, which enables vendors to ship products directly to customers, and Vendor Flex, where we operate Amazon fulfillment processes within vendor facilities. As a Software Development Engineer on the AF team, you will build end-to-end solutions that power our alternative fulfillment network. You will design and develop scalable solutions that connect seamlessly with both vendor systems and Amazon's fulfillment network. Your solutions will directly impact the success of our vendor partnerships and enhance the end-to-end customer experience, from product discovery to delivery completion. You'll also be responsible for building tools and dashboards that provide visibility into system health and business metrics, enabling data-driven decisions across the organization. In this role, you will architect and develop cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS's comprehensive service portfolio. You'll build highly available, fault-tolerant systems that process millions of transactions daily, while incorporating cutting-edge Generative AI technologies to enhance development efficiency and system capabilities. You will implement solutions following industry best practices and the latest technologies. Strong software development experience and knowledge of distributed systems are essential for success in this position. While prior AWS experience is valuable, we welcome candidates who are eager to learn and grow their technical expertise. Key job responsibilities • Design and develop scalable systems for alternative fulfillment channels • Build software solutions that integrate with vendor systems and Amazon's fulfillment network • Deploy and maintain solutions across multiple geographical regions • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve customer and vendor experiences Basic Qualifications - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience programming with at least one software programming language Preferred Qualifications - 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience - Master's degree in computer science or equivalent - Experience with AWS technologies including ECS, DynamoDB, S3, ElasticSearch, SNS, SQS, Lambda, etc and and demonstrated expertise in leveraging Generative AI tools to optimize development workflows. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
