Software Development Engineer, Prime Air Flight Sciences High Fidelity Methods
Description The Prime Air Drone Flight Sciences High Fidelity Methods (HFM) team is looking for an experienced software development engineer (SDE) to guide the development of new features and infrastructure for our drone simulation models. These models vary from individual physics-based analytical sensor models, to machine learning-based drone aerodynamics models, to large-scale flight network models. Our models are the backbone of every flight simulation performed within Prime Air and are a critical input to business decisions, aircraft design, system verification, and aircraft certification. The HFM team’s products enable the prediction of vehicle performance and help us understand how vehicle design and operational decisions impact customer reachability. They are also a crucial element in the design of flight control algorithms and system testing. The accuracy and reliability of these models are critical to the success of Prime Air. Key job responsibilities The person in this role is responsible for developing new model features, and maintaining model interfaces, generation tooling, and verification infrastructure. This individual will work closely with research scientists and engineers across Prime Air to ensure that models meet the needs of our internal customers. They will develop and maintain data acquisition systems used in flight and lab testing to support model development and verification. They will work on improving the robustness and efficiency of our models, and the machine learning infrastructure used to generate them. Basic Qualifications - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience programming with at least one software programming language Preferred Qualifications - 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
