Smalltalk Software Engineer III

We're in the midst of an exciting modernization journey, migrating to cutting-edge infrastructure and transforming how we deliver technology solutions. As a Software Engineer III, you'll be a key contributor to this transformation, working with unique technologies including Smalltalk (yes, really!), alongside modern tools and practices including Python, C, and shell scripting.

 

Job responsibilities

Solve complex technical challenges by designing and building innovative solutions that go beyond conventional approachesOwn your code from conception to production—write secure, high-quality software and shepherd it through its entire lifecycleShape our technical architecture by creating design artifacts for complex changes and ensuring development meets our quality standardsTurn data into action by analyzing patterns across diverse datasets and using insights to continuously improve our systemsBe a technical detective—spot hidden problems and patterns before they become issues, driving improvements to code quality and system designLearn and share by engaging with our engineering communities, exploring emerging technologies, and bringing fresh ideas to the teamBuild an inclusive culture by contributing to our team's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Strong object-oriented programming skills (we value clean, maintainable code)Applied software engineering experience in a corporate environmentFormal training or certification in software engineering conceptsDeep understanding of the software development lifecycle and agile practicesHands-on experience with automated testing, CI/CD, application resiliency, and securityProficiency with version control systems, particularly GitExperience developing, debugging, and maintaining code across the full-stackBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience
