Job Description
Join an exciting opportunity to work on unique and challenging projects within the maritime industry. As a Skilled Laborer, you will be involved in applying, removing, and repairing thermal and acoustical insulation on industrial equipment, supporting the construction of ships. This role requires expertise in interpreting specifications, selecting appropriate insulation, and using hand and power tools to achieve precise installation.
ResponsibilitiesApply, remove, and repair thermal and acoustical insulation on industrial equipment such as duct piping, heat exchangers, tanks, and vessels.Read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine insulation requirements.Select the amount and type of insulation to be installed, and determine the method of securing insulation based on the type and shape of surface.Measure and cut insulating material and coverings to required shapes and dimensions.Fit insulation around obstructions and shape insulation materials and protective coverings.Install vapor barriers and finish insulated surfaces with metal cladding, canvas, PVC, or cement.Essential Skills3+ years of experience in a construction trade such as carpentry, sheet metal, or installation.Ability to operate hand and power tools effectively.Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.Completion of CSTS certification.Willing to purchase required tools.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in insulation, scaffolding or sheet metal work is highly desirable.Strong English communication skills.Why Work Here?

Work Environment
Work at the Seaspan shipyards in North Vancouver, where parking is available but limited. Join a team of 36 employees, reporting to the site superintendent with one other supervisor and five foremen. The current projects involve three ships, requiring shifts from Monday to Friday with a start time of 5:45am and end time of 4:00pm, totaling 10-hour days including overtime.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.06 - $45.57/hr.
