Site Service Controls Engineer
Location: Magnolia, TX
Compensation: $105-125K base, + OT & bonuses
Travel: Up to 30% (regional and project-based)
We’re hiring a Site Service Controls Engineer to support and commission custom-engineered industrial automation and control systems used in complex, real-world manufacturing and processing environments.
This team designs, builds, installs, and supports bespoke control panels, PLC/HMI systems, and integrated automation solutions for industrial clients. These are not cookie-cutter systems. Each project is engineered for a specific application, process, and operating environment.
In this role, you’ll be hands-on from install through long-term support, working directly with customers, technicians, and internal engineering teams to ensure systems are built correctly, perform reliably, and evolve with customer needs.
What You’ll DoYou’ll split your time between field support, commissioning, troubleshooting, and system optimization.
Install, configure, and commission PLC- and HMI-based automation systems at customer sites
Support startup and validation of custom-built control panels and automation equipment
Diagnose and resolve complex electrical, controls, and communication issues in live production environments
Modify, optimize, and maintain PLC and HMI programs to improve performance, reliability, and usability
Support data collection, system monitoring, and basic analytics to improve process visibility
Interpret and apply electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and system documentation
Design and modify control circuits and hardware layouts to improve system performance and serviceability
Implement system upgrades, retrofits, and technology improvements as customer needs evolve
Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers and internal teams
Train operators, maintenance teams, and junior engineers on system operation and troubleshooting
Document changes, lessons learned, and best practices for future projects
Technical Skills That MatterStrong hands-on troubleshooting of industrial electrical and control systems
PLC and HMI programming experience (Rockwell / Allen-Bradley strongly preferred)
Ability to read, create, and modify electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
Experience using electrical test equipment (voltmeters, mA generators, loop calibrators, etc.)
Familiarity with AutoCAD, TIA Portal, and Rockwell software environments

(or equivalent hands-on experience)
3-5+ years of experience in:
Controls systems installation and support
PLC programming and troubleshooting
Industrial automation environments
