At ABB Marine and Ports, we are focused on electrifying Container Terminals globally. Ports have many electrical consumers, such as Ship-to-Shore Cranes, Stacking Cranes, Reefer sockets, Shore Power, electric vehicles, and buildings. Within our team, we design and build electrical and automation infrastructure to provide reliable and sustainable power to our customers, enabling them to handle containers efficiently.
Our scope includes Medium Voltage Substations, SCADA systems, Terminal Lighting, Reefer racks and their electrical systems, Electrical Vehicle charging infrastructure, and Grid Connection substations, among others.
Our core products are prefabricated substations built in our facilities in Panama. These substations are fully tested and commissioned before they arrive at the construction site. These substations include medium-voltage switchgear, transformers, low-voltage switchgear, UPS, DC systems, SCADA, Fire Alarms, and climate control systems.
Our project locations span the globe, covering the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Latin America. They typically take around 24 months to complete. Safety and Integrity are part of our DNA throughout the project lifecycle.
Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead all on-site activities of medium to large projects. Each day, you will ensure cost-effective execution of project deliverables in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, schedule, and safety requirements. You will also showcase your expertise by leading the site team, defining main guidelines, and allocating tasks.
Your will be responsible for:
1. Sub-Contractors
• Assists the Site Manager or Installation Manager in coordinating activities between external resources and the customer.
• Ensures external resources are fully informed on site works planning activities, product knowledge, and safety procedures in line with requirements and standards.
2. Site cost management
• Assists the project and site manager in controlling cost for the project site work, monitors actual spend against forecasts, and estimates final cost for the same
3. Documentation
• Issues or assists the Site Manager or Installation Manager for all site works documentation required for use in award and execution of the sub-contract(s).
• Controls installation and commissioning related documentation accuracy and consistency in line with the contract and procedures agreed with the customer.
4. Stakeholder relation
• Effectively communicates appropriate information to customer and other stakeholders in a timely manner and to achieve desired understanding.
5. Material handling
• Assists with the coordination of material shipments to secure timely site delivery of equipment and material.
6. Site survey
• Performs site survey and determines required steps to execute site works activities (in cooperation with Supply Chain Management).
• Assists with preliminary enquiries, bid review, labor modelling, and other preparation activities.
7. Cost determination
• Participates in the collection and/or estimation of labor hours and other site works related items for the site
8. Project Controls
• Ensures projects follow good methodology and execution practices in accordance with internal standard procedures
9. Site Reviews
• Participates in on-site reviews and ensure all project cost adjustments approved by the Site Manager or Construction Site Manager are updated in business system.
• Reviews and analyses site works progress reports.
• Recommends and implements measures to resolve current and potential issues.
