Schedule:  Day/Evening, (M-F) – 40 hours weekly

Position Summary:
The Simulation Lab Coordinator assumes responsibility for coordinating simulation activities within the College of Health Careers (COHC) to enhance the educational experience. The Simulation Coordinator plays a key role in creating realistic and immersive simulated learning experiences that enhance the skills and confidence of students. The Simulation Lab Coordinator works closely with faculty, students, and administration in both the RN and PN programs to ensure the smooth operation of the simulation lab, facilitating hands-on learning experiences, and maintaining a safe and supportive environment. The Simulation Lab Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the implementation of skills-based curricula, organizing training sessions, and staying abreast of advancements in nursing education technology. The Simulation Lab Coordinator exercises discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance daily and reports to the Director of Clinical Education.

Key Responsibilities:

Simulation Program Coordination & Development

Develop and implement a comprehensive simulation program that aligns with the curriculum and learning objectives of the RN and PN programs.

Design, develop, and continuously refine realistic and clinically relevant simulation scenarios that align closely with current healthcare practices.

Collaborate actively with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and alignment with evolving learning objectives, and to enhance the realism and effectiveness of the simulation program.

Facilitation & Instruction

Facilitate and lead simulation sessions, ensuring a realistic and safe learning environment.

Provide instruction to students on the use of simulation equipment and technologies.

Foster a culture of active student engagement through collaborative learning opportunities within the simulation environment.

Maintain open communication channels with faculty to assess needs and gather feedback for continuous improvement.

Training, Faculty Engagement, and Collaboration

Provide training and support to faculty, staff, and students on simulation best practices, including integrating hands-on and active learning simulations within regular instruction.

Stay current on advancements in simulation education and incorporate innovative techniques into the program.

Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of the RN and PN curriculum, ensuring that simulation experiences seamlessly integrate with didactic and clinical components.

Collaborate with faculty to identify opportunities for curriculum enrichment and the integration of cutting-edge simulation methodologies into the overall program curriculum.

The Simulation Lab Coordinator may be required to teach courses throughout the calendar year in addition to assigned duties and responsibilities.

Regulatory Compliance

Ensures programs meet the regulatory requirements as defined by the New York State Office of Professions, New York State Education Department (NYSED), the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) and other allied health accreditation agencies.

Develops and promotes structures, programs, policies, and procedures that enhance the student experience.

Other Responsibilities

Collaborates closely with technical support staff to address repairs, maintenance, and upgrades of the simulation and debrief suites and equipment

Utilizes data to document the achievement of outcomes and to drive decisions for changes and growth.

Conducts monthly simulation meetings

Participates in faculty and curriculum team meetings.

Participates with faculty in the development of course objectives, evaluation of total curriculum, and revision of program policies.

Demonstrates excellence in academia by engaging in scholarship.

Engages in evidence-based simulation practice.

Models professional standards, including customer service, collaboration, communication, excellence, and attendance

Actively engages in professional development and clinical practice (one shift per month) to ensure currency with best practices

Travels to all COHC lab sites as often as required, weekly and/or daily

Undertakes additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned.

Desired Attributes:

Previous teaching and simulation lab coordination experience

Knowledge of clinical and simulation practice of nursing

Knowledge of diverse organization environments in which students/graduates practice

Ability to communicate effectively—interpersonally, orally, and in writing to engage a variety of constituents

Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, and/or board of directors

Capacity to work in a highly collaborative environment with distributed leadership

Skills in operating a PC and Mac with experience in MS Office and the ability to learn additional software programs, including audiovisual and computerized simulation equipment

Minimum Qualifications:

2+ years of clinical nursing experience within the past 5 years

Master's degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education

Required Licensure/Certification:

Current unencumbered licensure in New York State as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).

Certified in American Heart Association BLS CPR

Must obtain INACSL certification issued by International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning or equivalent certification within two years of hire

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

$95,000.00 - $105,000.00

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
