Job Responsibilities:

The Lifeguard at Simeon Park, part of Magna International Inc., is responsible for instructing and supervising recreational swimming activities to ensure the safety of all patrons. Lifeguards also act as park attendants, supporting the maintenance of indoor and outdoor facilities and providing guest services for summer events and recreation programs. This position reports directly to the Operations Coordinator.

Major ResponsibilitiesPool & Lifeguard Duties

Supervise recreational swimming activities to ensure patron safety and compliance with Simeon Park’s pool rules.

Instruct swimming lessons in accordance with the Lifesaving Society’s Swim for Life curriculum (i.e. training, skills testing, lesson planning, providing feedback, awards processing, etc.).

Perform rescues and administer first aid as required.

Park Maintenance:

Clean and maintain the pool facility.

Clean and maintain indoor facilities (e.g., washrooms, pavilion).

Perform lawn maintenance.

Conduct groundskeeping (trail maintenance, sports facility maintenance, garbage collection, etc.).

Operate machinery as needed.

Clean, move, and assemble outdoor equipment (e.g., tents, barbecues, picnic tables, sports field equipment).

Perform additional general labour duties, including tasks requiring heavy lifting.

Guest Services:

Provide gatehouse services.

Provide parking services.

Officiate recreation programs (e.g., soccer and slo‑pitch).

Perform additional guest services as required.

Who We are Looking for

Must be enrolled in a college or university program.

Must be available to work weekends and holidays during the summer until Labour Day.

Preferred Qualifications

High school diploma.

National Lifeguard Certification.

Swim Instructor Certification.

First AID CPR-C Certification.

Valid G or G2 driver’s license.

Soccer referee certification (training will be provided if needed).

Work Environment

The Lifeguard role involves working primarily outdoors and requires comfort working in various weather conditions. Students must be prepared for a physically active environment that includes walking, lifting, and completing maintenance tasks throughout the park grounds.

Compensation

This position offers an hourly wage of $21.00.
