Job Title: Shop Helper

Job Description

As a Shop Helper, you will be responsible for removing castings from molds using appropriate tools and machinery. You will also perform finishing operations such as grinding, sanding, and polishing to meet product specifications. This role involves engaging in manual tasks like digging, lifting, carrying, and moving materials, as well as operating tools or machinery involved in casting products, including furnaces, molds, and ladles. We will review candidates who are motivated and willing to learn.

Responsibilities

Remove castings from molds using appropriate tools and machinery.Perform finishing operations such as grinding, sanding, and polishing to meet product specifications.Engage in manual tasks such as digging, lifting, carrying, and moving materials.Operate tools or machinery involved in casting products including furnaces, molds, and ladles.Understand and proactively address quality issues as they arise.Ensure jobs are completed efficiently, aligning with quoted hours and material estimates.Complete jobs on schedule, providing timely updates on delivery status or delays to the Project Manager and Lead.Advise the Lead of any issues.Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and tasks assigned by management and the team lead.Comply with the rules and guidelines outlined in the Pattern Work Instruction SOPs.Ensure a clean and safe workplace.Participate in mandatory cross-training with mold building and other relevant jobs.Work in a safe manner, demonstrating competency and proficiency with the tools and processes being used.

Essential Skills

General labor skills.Assembly experience.Previous manufacturing or warehouse experience.Competency and proficiency with tools and processes being used.Foundry experience is ideal.Mold, sanding, grinding, and heavy lifting experience.Production experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Ability to multi-task and cross train on multiple duties within the group or as needed elsewhere.Team player and self-motivated worker.Preferred experience in sand cast & mold assembly, mold prep and maintenance, painting in the sand cast industry, automotive or air-powered booth painting, and carpentry with blueprint reading as a plus.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
