**Job Title: Shop Helper**
**Job Description**
This position involves working closely with a colleague to learn the operation of an overhead crane and various parts. The role includes training to take over the CNC burn table operations. As a Shop Helper, you will be expected to operate different types of forklifts, overhead cranes, grinders, saws, drills, and engage in physical tasks such as bending and lifting. While the job is physically demanding, most lifting tasks are supported by machines.
**Work Environment**
The work environment is within a steel manufacturing facility that specializes in high-strength wear and structural steel. The team consists of around 24 individuals, with 14 working in the shop and 10 in the office. The position requires working Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with flexibility for overtime. Safety gear, including hard hats, blue overalls, and safety glasses, is provided, but candidates must supply their own steel-toed work boots. The shop environment is noisy with sparks and requires comfort and experience in a heavy industrial setting. Despite the noise, the shop is clean and adheres strictly to safety regulations.
**Responsibilities**
+ Operate three different kinds of forklifts and overhead cranes.
+ Perform grinding, labeling, wrapping skids, and loading & unloading tasks.
+ Move parts using the overhead crane and learn to operate the burn table.
+ Engage in material handling and general labor within a heavy industrial environment.
+ Maintain documentation for shipping and receiving, and input product data using computers.
**Essential Skills**
+ Minimum one year experience in a heavy industrial environment.
+ Fluency in English communication.
+ Ability to work with hand and power tools, including grinding and brushing.
+ Physical ability to lift 50 pounds and perform bending and crouching tasks.
+ Computer proficiency for documentation and data input.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Prior grinding experience.
+ Previous crane operation experience.
+ Attention to detail and willingness to learn all departments.
+ Strong attendance and team-first mindset.
