Shop Foreman
**Job Title: Shop Foreman** **Job Description** The Shop Foreman will be responsible for managing the shop floor, ensuring the efficient production of office furniture, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to coordinate and supervise a team of approximately 20 skilled workers. **Responsibilities** + Oversee and manage shop personnel, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing training and guidance to a team of about 20 employees. + Ensure that production schedules are met and that products are manufactured to the highest quality standards. + Direct activities for the shop functions, including daily resource allocations of manpower. + Ensure work is performed in accordance with established procedures and quality standards. + Monitor and review the progress of work orders, ensuring that deadlines are met and any issues or delays are promptly addressed. + Enforce safety policies and procedures throughout the shop. + Ensure all equipment is in clean and safe working condition. + Train new employees in all departmental procedures, including completion of paperwork, notification policies, and use of equipment. + Implement strategies to optimize workflow and operational efficiency. + Implement and monitor quality control processes to ensure all products meet company standards. + Monitor and manage inventory levels of materials and supplies, ensuring timely ordering and restocking. + Address and resolve any issues that arise during the production process, including technical and personnel challenges. + Maintain effective communication with management, staff, and other departments to ensure smooth operations. **Essential Skills** + Supervision + Assembly + Production + Machining + Management skills + Fabrication + Blueprint reading + Machine shop experience **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + **At least 5 years of experience in a solid surface shop environment.** + **Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role.** + Experience with solid surface materials and applications, including countertops, enclosures, and wall panels, or experience in the building trades. + Experience with plastic laminates and solid surface materials preferred. + Proficiency in operating shop equipment such as table saws, routers, and skill saws. + Knowledge of woodworking techniques and materials. + Strong leadership and team management skills. + Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities. + Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. + Dependable, with a positive attitude and commitment to success. + Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. + Capable of working on multiple tasks and deadlines. + Excellent attendance and strong work principles. **Work Environment** The position operates in a shop environment, which involves working with various shop equipment and materials. **Why Work Here?** This role offers an opportunity to lead a dedicated team in a dynamic and supportive work environment.
