Job Title: Shipping Team Leader  

Salary: £35,200 rising to £39,000 when role objectives are met + 20% Premium 
Contract: Full Time & Permanent 
Hours: Afternoon shift: Monday–Thursday: 15:30–00:00 and Friday: 11:30–17:00 
Location: Desford, Leicestershire 

 

The Opportunity: 

As a Shipping Team Leader, you’ll be responsible for leading a small team on the afternoon shift, making sure machines are loaded safely and sent out on time. You’ll support day‑to‑day operations in the shipping area, help with container loading and make sure all paperwork and system updates are done correctly. You’ll work closely with the Afternoon Shipping Manager and make sure your team works safely, follows the correct processes and meets daily targets. 

 

As a Shipping Team Leader, you are accountable for, but not limited to: 

Leading your team each day, making sure work is carried out safely, correctly and on time. 

Keeping safety front and centre, dealing with any issues straight away and making sure the team follows all site rules and procedures. 

Overseeing machine shipments, booking transport, completing system transactions and keeping in touch with the people involved in getting machines moved. 

Supporting the afternoon container loading operation, making sure loads are secure and completed to standard. 

Looking for ways to improve the job, updating standard work and keeping the team’s skills matrix up to date. 

Coaching and supporting your team, helping them develop and recognising good performance.

What You Can Demonstrate:

People: able to support, guide and motivate team members and build a positive working environment.

Shipping knowledge: knowledge of how products are prepared, checked and sent out.

Safety: able to spot hazards, challenge unsafe work and set the right example.

Continuous Improvement Skills: Proactively looks to spot waste, identify simple process issues, suggest practical improvements and help make changes stick

 

Top Candidates will have:

Quality Focus: Understands and uses basic quality tools to spot defects, raise issues correctly and support simple root‑cause problem solving.

Equipment Operation Skills: Able to safely operate prime product equipment (Backhoe Loader, Compact Wheel Loader, Telehandler) or be willing to train to this level.

System Skills: Able to navigate systems like Glovia or Corporate Machine Order Processing System (CMOPS) to complete transactions and keep accurate records.
