Job Summary
The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all outbound/inbound shipping and receiving activities to ensure products are packaged, documented, and delivered in compliance with customer requirements, AS9100 standards, and company procedures. This role provides daily leadership to shipping/receiving personnel, coordinates closely with production, quality, and logistics teams, and ensures on-time delivery while maintaining the highest standards of safety, accuracy, and quality.
Essential Job Functions: Supervise daily shipping activities including packing, labeling, staging, and shipment release Ensure all shipments meet customer specifications, contract requirements, and delivery schedules Coordinate freight arrangements (LTL, FTL, air, international) and monitor carrier performance Resolve shipping issues such as delays, damages, shortages, or documentation discrepancies Weekly orders for department supplies and standard/special crates Ensure compliance with AS9100, customer requirements, and export control regulations (ITAR/EAR, when applicable) Verify accuracy and completeness of shipping documentation including packing lists, certifications, C of C, and commercial invoices Support audits and ensure proper record retention and traceability Ensure accurate transaction of shipments within the ERP/MRP system Coordinate with inventory control to maintain accurate records and resolve discrepancies Support cycle counts and physical inventory activities related to shipping Enforce safety policies and safe material-handling practices Identify opportunities to improve shipping efficiency, accuracy, and cost control Participate in corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives Lead, train, and mentor shipping/receiving personnel to ensure consistent performance and adherence to procedures Assign work, monitor productivity, and address performance or attendance issues as needed Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent 3+ years of shipping/receiving experience in a manufacturing environment Prior leadership or supervisory experience Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (Epicor a plus) Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Forklift certification (or ability to obtain) Minimum Eligibility Requirements: Must be detail oriented, highly motivated and able to work independently or in a team environment Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and interpersonal Ability to organize, multitask, problem-solve and manage time proficiently Capable of researching to find and identify essential information Maintain a clean and organized working environment Knowledge of domestic and international shipping regulations Aerospace or regulated manufacturing experience Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Understanding of quality, traceability, and compliance requirements Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems Leadership and team management Physical Demands and Work Environment:  Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Standing, walking, bending, and material handling in a shop environment While performing the duties of this Job, employee needs to be aware this position requires physical activity in a manufacturing work environment. Ability to cope with stress and multiple tasks is essential. Frequently required to use hands and fingers, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Exposure of manufacturing environment, which requires the use of personal protective equipment such as: safety glasses, hearing protection and shoe/boot wear.
