Shipping and Receiving Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Shipping and Receiving Specialist to manage incoming and outgoing shipments efficiently and accurately. The ideal candidate will use tools such as saws and overhead cranes to build and handle shipping crates, ensuring items are prepared for shipment and delivery.

Responsibilities

Build shipping crates using tools such as saws and overhead cranes.Load shipping crates onto trucks for shipment and customer delivery.Unload incoming shipping crates from trucks and inspect for transportation damage, documenting any visible damage on bills of lading.Store received items in appropriate storage areas and update inventory records accordingly.Prepare items for shipping, noting contents, delivery methods, and other logistical details.Operate forklifts and other small machines/hand tools as required.Maintain a clearly organized workspace.Communicate with vendors regarding problems.Utilize MRP/WMS systems for inventory management.

Essential Skills

Experience with sit-down and stand-up forklifts.Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and ERP systems.Familiarity with bills of lading (BOLs).Ability to read a tape measure.Mechanical aptitude.Proficiency in using tools such as saws and overhead cranes.Previous experience in shipping and receiving preferred.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Previous shipping and receiving experience is preferred.
