The PositionThis role is based in San José, Costa Rica, working within Roche Shared Services (RSS) Americas, one of Roche's global service centers providing Finance, Procurement, Human Resources, and IT services to countries across the Americas region.
The Opportunity:
As a SHE Officer, you will be an integral part of the Site Services team. Reporting to the Site Services Head and working closely with the General Manager, you will have unrestricted access to senior leadership. Your mission is to ensure Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) compliance and excellence, supporting the daily operations of the physical facility while collaborating closely with facilities staff and maintenance teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Support and advise site leadership and line management on SHE-related matters.
Drive local and global Roche SHE objectives and initiatives.
Ensure alignment with local legal regulations and Roche SHE provisions, conducting gap analyses and implementing corrective measures as needed.
Prepare and maintain the SHE handbook in accordance with Roche Group SHE Guidelines.
Support line management in providing effective SHE training for employees.
Develop and maintain systems for documenting and addressing SHE-related reports, complaints, and incidents.
Implement and document a comprehensive risk analysis process.
Monitor and Report:
SHE program implementation and progress toward goals and targets.
Accidents, incidents, occupational injuries, and illnesses.
Environmental emissions (soil, water, air) and resource usage.
SHE KPIs and overall trend monitoring.
Conduct routine SHE inspections and address critical situations.
Emergency Preparedness: Advise external emergency response teams. Establish and manage internal emergency systems and protocols.
Build strong relationships with local authorities, professional organizations, and public entities regarding SHE issues.
Assist in physical security and access matters, local law enforcement collaborations, and participation in security-related investigations.
Who You Are:
Bachelor’s Degree in SHE Engineering or a related technical field.
Over 5 years of experience in SHE-related roles, ideally in a Shared Services or facilities management context.
Advanced English fluency required; Spanish required, Portuguese is a plus.
Demonstrated leadership experience in diverse, matrixed, and multicultural environments.
Professional SHE certification and solid experience working with senior leaders.
Strong stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration abilities.
Independent working style with excellent multitasking and prioritization skills, delivering high-quality outcomes under limited supervision.
Experience translating SHE strategy into roadmaps with clear business cases and measurable results.
Ability to foster a trustful, engaging, and globally-minded work environment.
