As a ServiceNow Architect SME, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of our customers. You will play a crucial role via the following:
Design and maintain the overall architectural framework for ServiceNow solutions, ensuring scalability, security, and alignment with business goals and industry best practices (ITIL, CSDM)Design, develop, and maintain custom ServiceNow Service Portals, ensuring intuitive user interfaces and optimal user experienceCreate and enhance custom widgets using AngularJS, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS to extend portal functionality and meet specific business requirementsImplement and configure portal pages, themes, and brandingLead the design and development of custom applications, including coding complex business logic using JavaScript and other web technologies (HTML, CSS, AngularJS)Architect and implement complex data integrations with external systems, specifically focusing on the efficient ingestion and processing of large XML datasets using REST/SOAP APIs, MID Servers, and custom scriptingDesign and develop robust mechanisms for generating outgoing XML data, ensuring data integrity and adherence to external system requirementsDesign and develop highly customized user interfaces, including building bespoke Service Portals and modifying the Next Experience UI framework to meet specific user experience (UX) requirementsConfigure and optimize ServiceNow Workspaces to streamline workflows and improve efficiencyCustomize workspace layouts, components, and data visualizationsOversee the deployment, administration, and maintenance of on-premise ServiceNow instances, ensuring configuration consistency across development, QA, and production environments, and managing upgrades and performance optimizationAct as a subject matter expert (SME), providing technical guidance and mentorship to development teams, conducting code reviews, and enforcing architectural standards and governance processesProvide expert-level support for complex incidents, performing root cause analysis and ensuring platform stability and performanceCreate and maintain comprehensive technical documentation (design specifications, architecture diagrams, process flows) and effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersServe as the technical advisor, overseeing all technical aspects of implementations, resolving technical issues, and defining best practices for configuration, scripting, and workflow automationCollaborate with business and IT stakeholders to define requirements, develop migration roadmaps, and facilitate workshopsSupport business growth and proposal teams by writing proposal sections, providing guidance, and contributing to the creation of cost and effort estimatesGrow junior talent through mentoring, partnership, and technical reviewsAuthor, review, and lead the creation of white papers and contract artifactsMaintain current ServiceNow and industry certifications, while obtaining additional certificationsLead, author, and contribute to IT-related technical processes reviews, postmortems, and continual process improvementCreate estimations on effort required to produce ServiceNow functionality
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

● Education: Technical Training, Certification(s) or Degree
● Experience: 10+ years of related experience
● Required Skills:
Extensive experience with ServiceNow architecture, development, and best practices, including strong knowledge of the platform's core modulesProven expertise in ServiceNow Service Portal development and custom widget creationProven experience with the configuration and optimization of ServiceNow WorkspacesProven experience with ServiceNow Service Portal, UI Builder, and the Next Experience UI customizationDeep proficiency in JavaScript (client-side and server-side), Glide API, HTML, CSS, and AngularJSStrong experience with data exchange formats like XML and JSON, and integration methods (REST/SOAP APIs, MID Server)Strong experience with XML data digestion and generation, and integration with external systemsIn-depth understanding of ITSM processes and ITIL frameworksExcellent understanding of the Agile software testing process and lifecycle, from smoke test to integration to production deploymentAbility to identify, understand, document, and create functionality aligning with customer value streamsAbility to produce level of estimates and basic deployment plans for ServiceNow functionalityStrong organizational and time management skills while working in a rapid software development environmentAbility to identify and learn new technologies quicklyExcellent communication skills for collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersStrong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skillsAbility to coach, guide, and mentor junior developers
● Certification(s):
Required: ServiceNow Certified Systems AdministratorStrongly Preferred: ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – Customer Service ManagementStrongly Preferred: ServiceNow Public Sector Digital Services ImplementerAdditional ServiceNow certifications a plus
● Clearance Level: Must possess and maintain an active Secret or higher clearance
