Job Description

The Service Mechanic Manager is responsible for overseeing all truck mechanics and technicians, managing shop operations to efficiently service fleet assets and customer-owned trucks. The role involves maintaining parts inventory, ensuring repair accuracy, and fostering a safe work environment. This position requires occasional travel for field service and training, with a focus on maintaining rental equipment in 'Ready to Rent' status.

ResponsibilitiesSupervise truck mechanics and technicians to ensure efficient operations.Manage shop operations for fleet asset turnaround and customer service work.Maintain proper inventory levels and ensure repair accuracy.Travel occasionally for field service and training requirements.Perform routine PM inspections and fluid/lubrication requirements.Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.Read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics effectively.Conduct repairs within DOT or OEM standards.Notify and follow up with customers regarding service requirements.Maintain business and build customer relations.Prepare quotations for customer service work and charge backs.Develop daily and weekly job work schedules for fleet service and PM work.Assist with troubleshooting and diagnosing service issues for training purposes.

QUALIFICATIONS

Solid understanding of truck-mounted vacuum equipment.Proficiency in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical data and schematics.Experience in administering DOT inspections.Good computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.Excellent communication and team leadership skills.Self-motivated with accountability and timely assignment completion.Hands-on service management experience.Able to climb ladders and work around equipment.Candidate must be willing to submit to a pre-employment drug and bac kground check and must have a clean driving record.

Work Environment

The role is situated in a rental company service shop managing a fleet of truck vacuum excavators, medium size shop. Company is part of a large corporation in the USA.
