MAJOR FUNCTION:

The Service Line Nurse Manager oversees nursing operations and the assigned service line within surgical services, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care. This role coordinates care across the patient journey, optimizes service efficiency, manages staff, and removes workflow barriers. Responsibilities include implementing nursing policies, maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and AORN standards, and serving as a lead resource for the care team. The manager prepares and maintains service line resources, monitors daily workflows, and drives strategic initiatives to enhance performance. Leadership is guided by the AONL Nurse Leader Core Competencies, applying knowledge, skills, and abilities to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

BSN required.Master’s degree preferredMinimum of three years of surgical services nursing experience Experience as a staff nurse or charge nurse requiredLeadership experience preferred

Certification/Licensure

Active New Jersey Registered Nurse license required.BLS required; ACLS as applicable to service lineCNOR required within two years of hire.

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of surgical services and service line operationsAbility to lead teams and coordinate care across departmentsFamiliarity with AORN standards and AONL Nurse Leader Core CompetenciesStrong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
