A Nuclear Surety engineer has the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a system designed to provide another 50 years of security for this great nation. A Nuclear Surety Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman on the Sentinel program will be provided the opportunity to:
Performing decomposition of Department of Defense safety manuals into requirements and allocating them to design teams for implementationProvide systems engineering expertise to the design, integration, and testing of a next generation ICBM weapon systemParticipate in technical planning, system integration, verification, validation, cost, risk, supportability, and analysis for mechanical, electrical, and integrated systemsEvaluate the physical security design based on the Department of Defense Safety manualsInterface directly with various compartments of the Department of Defense and Department of Energy to ensure safe design and operation of nuclear weapon systemsUse model based engineering tools on a major weapon system to pioneer a new way to evaluate and analyze modern designLearn a niche discipline that spans all aspects of Nuclear Power and MunitionsBasic Qualifications:
Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 yearsMust be able to be successfully screened for Enhanced Security Clearances, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needsBachelor's degree in computer science or an electrical, computer, or software engineering discipline from an accredited university and 12 years of related experience, a Master's Degree in computer science or an electrical, computer, or software engineering discipline and 10 years of related experience, or a PhD in computer science or an electrical, computer, or software engineering discipline and 8 years of related experiencePrevious program milestone execution experience, including but not limited to Systems Requirements Review, System Functional Review, Preliminary Design review. Experience working with Nuclear Surety Requirements and the Nuclear Certification process (e.g. AFI 63-125, AFMAN 91-118/91-119/31-108, DODM 5210.41)Experience with any of the following tools and languages: DOORs, Cameo, TeamCenter, GIT, JAZZ, NX, CapitolPreferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical, electronic or software engineering disciplineActive DOD Top Secret Clearance • Experience with electrical or software analyses/test; verification of requirementsExperience with programmable logic devices; i.e. FPGAs, ASICsPrior experience and working knowledge of the Sentinel programHolding current INCOSE AESP or CESP certificationsThis position is contingent upon program award anticipated in the third quarter of 2025.

Salary Range: $147,700.00 - $221,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
