Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking to hire a Principal Systems Engineer/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to join its team of diverse and qualified individuals. This position will be located in Bellevue, NE and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program in the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) division. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure. This position may be filled at a higher level based on the qualifications below. This position may consider DoD SkillBridge program candidates.

Roles and Responsibilities

This Systems Engineer position will support activities including use case development, requirements definition / allocation, functional decomposition, interface definition, verification & validation, and requirements traceability.Collaborate with program IPT counterparts to develop supporting systems engineering and design artifacts.Work with both technical teams and stakeholders to develop and mature architecture content of large programs design.Help develop and incorporate the appropriate requirements for the system and ensure that they are properly represented in the model.Develop systems architecture using Cameo Enterprise Architecture (behavioral, structural, analytical).Contribute to system requirements development, management, and analysis.Develop unifying model techniques, procedures, and processes (for model development, tool integration, and team integration).

Basic Qualifications

This position may be filled at a Principal or Sr. Principal level

Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needRequires a bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 5 years of related experience;  a master’s degree with 3 years; or a PhD with 1 year (Sr Principal level requires a BS degree with 8 years; MS degree with 6 years; or a PhD with 4 years)Requires 1 year of experience (2 years for Sr Principal) with requirements management/analysis/allocations OR Equivalent Graduate Certificate (e.g., CalTech SE Fundamentals);Requires 1 year of experience (2 years for Sr Principal) with Model-Based Engineering / Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBE/MBSE) practices, languages and/or tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody or MagicDRAW OR Equivalent Graduate Certificate (e.g., CalTech MBSE) Requires 1 year of experience (2 years for Sr Principal) with one or more of the following: C2, physical security, cybersecurity, Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) systems/processes, communications systems, facility design, military aerospace development (e.g. Sentinel, Minute Man III, B-2, B-21 delivery systems)

This position’s standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Primary Level Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
