Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking an Associate Systems Engineer (T01 level) / Systems Engineer (T02 level), in the GN&C department. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.

What You’ll Get to Do:

The Sentinel program has an exciting opportunity for a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer to join the team supporting activities including flight simulator development, GNC algorithm development and implementation, "test as you fly" test development, model verification and validation, and requirements validation.

Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:

Work in multi-disciplinary teams to develop, verify, and validate a complex 6-degree of freedom missile flight simulatorDesign and implement guidance, navigation, and control (GN&C) algorithmsDevelop software tools for analyzing GN&C performanceConduct system performance assessments for performance against mission requirementsPerform GN&C system and accuracy analysis of flight tests

Basic Qualifications:   

This requisition may be filled at either the Associate Systems Engineer level (T-01) or Systems Engineer level (T-02).

Required for Both Levels:

Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 yearsMust have a current or ability to obtain and maintain a Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needInternship or applicable college project experience in guidance, navigation, or control algorithm development and/or analysis for launch vehicles, missiles, spacecraft, and/or aircraft applicationsExperience in high level programming languages (MATLAB, C++) and Object-Oriented Programming designAbility to work in a highly collaborative & dynamic team-based environment

Associate Systems Engineer (T01 Level):

Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 1 years of experience, 0 years of experience with a Master's degree. An additional 4 years of experience can be considered in lieu of degree

Systems Engineer (T02 Level):

Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of experience, 0 years of experience with a Master's degree. An additional 4 years of experience can be considered in lieu of degree

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fieldDoD Top Secret ClearanceExperience in sensor navigation, including inertial, radio, and/or optical navigation techniquesExperience in strategic missile guidance and implementation of guidance algorithmsExperience in trajectory optimization, non-linear control, and/or adaptive/autonomous flight control systemsExperience with optimal state estimation filters (e.g. Kalman)Knowledge of machine learning applications for adaptive flight controlDemonstrated proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, Python, and/or other tools for GN&C simulation and developmentDemonstrated knowledge of aerodynamic modeling, flight mechanics, missile/re-entry vehicle dynamicsExperience with hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) testing, embedded control systems, and real-time software integrationExperience in software version control system (i.e. Git) and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.   

This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Primary Level Salary Range: $65,800.00 - $98,800.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
